Does anyone know of any skin care / make up products which are water based and don't contain lanolin......

or mineral oil? I was just reading up on it and lanolin can cause red, swollen and itchy eyelids which I've been getting really badly. It also said that hypoallergenic makeup, which I've also been using (clinique) can cause this as it contains lanolin, I've just checked and it does. I tried no makeup today and just used E45 cream but I just checked that also, and it contains lanolin too!! So maybe even thats been causing my problems. Does anyone have any ideas of what I can use, ie, moisturisers and makeup. I hear that water based, lanolin free, light coloured and matt makeup is best? But which makes? I get married in June and I really want to get to the root of this problem before then. Thanks

I think Boots No7 range is. HAve you tried the bodyshop, and Liz Earl products, Lanolin is sheep sweat not many people know that,
Reply:You may want to try Ayurvedic treatments they are pretty natural

My boyfriend has a severe skin rash?

The rash is on both his legs close to genital area, its red, itchy, yellowish cheesy discharge and has a very bad odor, sometimes burns and sometimes painful urination. He has used anti-fungal medication for over a week with no improvement and is using neosporin cream which he says feels better but is not going away. Does anyone know what it could be? He is a truck driver, is there a toll free number he can call for medical advice?

My boyfriend has a severe skin rash?
This could be a number of various things . . . and the one that comes to mind is an STD (I hate to mention this knowing he is your boyfriend %26amp; I don't want to put things in your head that he's cheating on you). The only reason is because of the painful urination, which could also be a UTI.

Yeast (also a fungal infection) is a very hard thing to get rid of, that could be why the anti-fungal cream is not effective. Keep the area clean %26amp; dry, and perhaps he should visit his doctor for a prescription.

If he doesn't go to the doc, you should get yourself checked out just in case he has transfered something to you.
Reply:sounds really nasty

god help him
Reply:Syphilis. Go to the doctor asap before he dies. That stuff is deadly, and get yourself checked out too...if you dont have it and he does... Someones been getting some at those nasty truck stops.
Reply:i suggest that your boyfriend has to seek for a proffesional medical advice regarding that matter before things get worse.
Reply:he needs to go see a Dermatologist before the rash gets any worse.
Reply:if there is an odor it pretty much rules out a yeast infection. Sounds like your boyfriend has an std honey. He'd better get to a doctor asap.

Anyone have this on their skin?

There is a sore-like spot on my jawline..it looks like a burn but is very itchy. It is a small, very slightly raised in a ring, like a spot right on my jawline. When I itch it, it hurts the back of my head , like a pain shooting there. I use foundation %26amp; concealer, could that be it? Although I have been using both for a long time, could this be the cause? Anyone have this problem?

It sounds like ringworm. You might want to get with your dermatologist a little sooner.
Reply:I think you should see a dermatologist!

Little white spots under the skin of my vagina lips?

they're not itchy or irritable

it can't be an STD

any ideas what it is?

Little white spots under the skin of my vagina lips?
Could be genital warts. Could be pimples. If you have had unprotected sex, it is worth having anything unusuall down there looked at by your gyno.
Reply:I have had them as long as I can remember....my gyno said they are prefectly normal and just more visible on some women than others.
Reply:You need to go to your doctor because no one can give you an answer here. Diagnostic testing has to be done. Even if it does not cause any symptoms now it can progress into something serious. Getting an early diagnosis increases chances of sucessful treatment for almost everything in the book.
Reply:These little spots have probably been there for quite a while, and you have only just noticed them. If they are not itchy, and are constant, and are small smooth rounded swellings just under the skin, then these are probably retention cysts or sebaceous cysts. They are not due to any disease process. They are quite common and do not do any harm.

Getting rid of them is not easy, they will not go with just putting on a cream. They sometimes disappear on their own, but if they are persistent or get troublesome, then they need to be removed under a local anaesthetic.

I would encourage you at the moment to try and forget about them if you can, and just wait and see what happens. If they bother you or change in any way, or you want something done about them, then you will need to go and see your doctor.

Uhh..this is a kind of weird question...but my nipples are itchy?

Like, I mean, it sounds stupid, but it's getting unbearable...and like I'm scratching to the point where it breaks the skin =\ Anyone know what's wrong?

Uhh..this is a kind of weird question...but my nipples are itchy?
I get that too, my doctor told me it is related to my hormones cycle. You have to check if it happens more often when you are ovulating or when you are close to your period. check with you gynecologist, I only get the itchy in one breast. Hope this helps you, do check it, it may be something else and you need to catch it early!!
Reply:maybe it's dry skin, try some lotion.
Reply:It could be the clothes you are wearing. Bought any new clothes lately? Or it could be something you ate, somethign you are allegic to. Try to recall. If not, consult a doctor.
Reply:this sounds stupid, but it could be your detergent. try one without dyes or perfumes for a while and see if that helps. could be your soap, shampoo, or body wash too. check out these simple things first before you start to freak out too badly.
Reply:Probably just dry skin. Try Lansinoh cream. Breastfeeding mothers use it. It's only about $10 at walmart.
Reply:Have you tried a new laundry detergent? Since a bra is so close to the skin, it is possible that you are getting irritation. Try some of the "free %26amp; clear" brands....

The only other thing I could think of is potential for yeast to grow if you perspire a lot.
Reply:When I was on SSSI's my bones itched

you on medication, or changed washing powder recently?
Reply:Eczema- the itch that rashes.

This is eczema.

What Is Eczema?

An inflammation of the skin is called dermatitis. Eczema is a term that includes every dermatitis. These may include -

Atopic dermatitis

Irritant contact dermatitis

Seborrhoeic dermatitis

Allergic contact dermatitis

Stasis Eczema

Dishydrotic eczema

Nummular eczema

All the above types of eczema will itch and cause redness. Some of them are not dry, but weep. Some types peel and form blisters. Though the term eczema is frequently used for atopic dermatitis, as said before - the term eczema includes many other conditions. Out of the above, atopic dermatitis is most chronic and severe.

Why is my neck/chest skin so sensitive?

After showering, there are red blotches all over, I sometimes get acne, very rarely it gets sort of slick like your face after 7-10 hours.

(this is above my breasts)

When i scratch or rub my chest it automatically turns red (like sunburn) for a few hours.

If I dont touch it, it isnt itchy, but the slightest thing touching it like a shirt makes it itch!

sometimes (after being in the sun) or other times you can REALLY see the hair follicles like i have goosebumps or something.

lotions make it break out, and gets rashes like hickeys

Help! what can i do?? it hate this!

Why is my neck/chest skin so sensitive?
dermatographia is the name of the condition happening to your skin after you scratch it. Its a cousin of hives. Actually, all of your symptoms seem to be related to hives. You probably have skin that is sensitive to many different things and would be better off using some detergent that is for sensitive skin (if you haven't tried this already).
Reply:Well it might be thta you have little bugs in your bed i have had this happen before but talk to a doc!

Has anybody heard of a case of chicken pox that was bearly itchy and looked like bad acne?

I woke up Thursday morning and had 4 red acne looking things on my face. I thought since Im 13, maybe Im just having a bad skin week. But I looked on my stomach and my back and their were more. Over the past few days theyve multiplied! My mother and doctor think it may be chicken pox but we arent sure. They itch occasionally but the only ones that really itch are on my scalp. I bearly get the urge to itch them and I just think thats a bit odd for chicken pox.

Has anybody heard of a case of chicken pox that was bearly itchy and looked like bad acne?
Just a mild case. Be care not to make scabs that can become scars.

I need help diagnosing a skin rash? Any suggestions?

Every so often I get a mysterious rash and I can not determine what it is. I've been to a dermatologist and they were unable to help me as well. It starts out on my upper outer thigh. The first day the area is sore and turns red and puffy. The second day it turns itchy and becomes blistery. After the blisters are popped, the rash turns into a scab and goes away. This rash alternates different parts of my body starting on my thigh and moving to my lower back. above my wrist and behind my elbow. As one spot is healing, another spot is starting up. Sometimes, I only get one outbreak in one spot no place else? I thought it was some type of Staph infection, ie. impetigo, cellulitis but anyone who has had contact with me/the area doesn't catches it? It's not contagious? It comes back alternating in the same spots and there is no set day, time or reason. I've tried to narrow it to something like my bath soap or detergent? I've been unsuccessful. Any suggestions?

I need help diagnosing a skin rash? Any suggestions?
sounds like you got mad gambou.....try soap and water
Reply:Have you ever been diagnosed with excema? I had something similar last winter and the dermatologist first thought it was a contact dermatitis. I washed everything in hot water with free and clear laundry detergent and tried a rash cream. It turned out that I have excema but had never been diagnosed before. Stress makes it worse.
Reply:It might be bedbug bites or dust mites.

Believe it or not I have (right now) the same symptom!

I've been using the same laundry detergent and using the same cologne before the outbreak happened.

Another factor is the weather. If you have dry skin (like I do) that might be causing rash / hives. Keep putting lotion on and drink plenty of WATER.

Another thing is the food you've been eating. Did you change your eating habits lately? You might be allergic to seafood, chocolates and fruits like peaches or watermelon - fruits that have fibers in them.

Do you know if your family has a history of skin allergies such as eczema? You might want to visit ANOTHER dermatologist to get a second or third opinion! Also, try www.webmd.com

I have a doctor's appointment soon. I'll see if I can get some answers!

Eucerin or avene for sensitive skin type?

which brand is better and effective for dry and flaky and sensitive and itchy face? thanks.

Eucerin or avene for sensitive skin type?
Both brands have good qualities but I like Aveeno lotion myself. My daughter found goat's milk products for her two youngest children who have very sensitive skin. It's made by Canus and is somewhat difficult to find. The last place we found it was in the Olive Tree in Gatlinburg and even they are not going to carry that line anymore. Burt's Bees products are good, too. The lotion did wonders for my daughters hands. She has dermatitis and is sensitive to a lot of things. The lotion has kept her hands from cracking open. What works for one person may not work for another, though. Good luck on finding one that works for you.
Reply:I have used Eurcerin on my son who has the same problems and we love it.
Reply:I've never used Avene so I can't say it works or doesn't. I have, however used Eucerin and like it a lot (I have dry, sensitive skin).

What's wrong with the skin in my underarms?

I guess it's after I used a certain type of deoderant, but I have some type of irration under my underarm for some reason. Yes, I wash my underarms everyday and it is not ring worms, but it resembles it. Instead, there are 3 wide itchy circles under my right armpit and I am afraid to shave it. What is it? Is it contagious? Please help me out.

Thanks.

What's wrong with the skin in my underarms?
How do you KNOW it isn't ringworm?

Ringworm is not a worm, you know, it's a fungus, and it would grow very happily in your armpit.

It's itchy, and you are undoubtably scratching it, which can cause it to spread to other areas....

Have your doctor take a look and treat it accordingly, whether it's ringworm or not.

Home remedies for eczema/dry skin?

I'm not sure if I have eczema or not, but I keep getting these little itchy bumpy patches that worsen during seasonal changes. I've tried like thirty types of lotion and nothing does the trick. I want it to go away, not just soothe. Please help, and offer me some suggestions.

Home remedies for eczema/dry skin?
Benyedryl, witch hazel, drink massive amounts of water, lots of sleep, aveeno products are good. There's a soap at AmWay. It comes in a three pack, I think. That works good on any skin problem. I can't remember the name of it though. There little orange squares of soap, and there not cheap, but they work.
Reply:I know how you feel. I have eczema and I HATE it! Search Home Remedies for Eczema on google, there are TONS of answers! Hope I helped!
Reply:Some people think that detoxifying your body will cleanse it enough to get rid of skin problems. You could look into it. I don't know if cleansing works or not.
Reply:Try baby powder...

Or lotion (non allergenic, of course) and then some powder... Could be your skin doesn't like have to adjust moisture levels for itself...gets all confused come spring and fall...

Could also be psoriasis..there is a special RX cream for that...there's one you can buy over the counter...I think by Aveeno..pretty good stuff.
Reply:Ok, my sister has eczema, and it is not curable. It's able to make it less severe, but is life-lasting. Or, at least that's what doctor's and research says. My sister's skin doesn't like the creams that the doctors give her, because it doesn't work for it, (it has a blue box and container that looks like a toothpaste container but in a smaller version) so, she uses a cream that is called Bebe, and has a pic. of a cartoon baby.( am not sure if sold in U.S, she gets it in Mexico)

I suggest go to a doctor immediately, and avoid scented products. Such as,deoderants, and lotions.

Try using:

Armer Hammer Baking soda Deodarant-No scent

And any lotion that you see doesn't make your skin worse.

Good luck!

Hydrogen Peroxide burn on my skin?

I recently used hydrogen peroxide on a wound but spilled in on my leg around the wound, didn't realize I had not wiped it all off.,now I have two area with blisters next to the wound, very sore, sometimes itchy, what can I use on this area to heal it more quickly?

Hydrogen Peroxide burn on my skin?
neosporin with pain killer in it
Reply:I doubt that it is a burn from peroxide its not that strong only 3%. The itching is probably just a sign its healing. If your concerned about infection use an antibiotic ointment like neosporin. otherwise just leave it alone and let it heal naturally
Reply:Witch Hazel, available at the drug store will sooth the itching. Apply it with a cotton swab.

What kind of Peroxide were you using? The 3% solution doesn't harm skin if you leave it on. Did you use the hair dye type? That"s a no-no.
Reply:Make sure you rinse it with cool water if you haven't already. If you took a shower, that's okay. As long as the excess peroxide has been washed away.

It's a little unusual for people to get really burned as you have. You must have sensitive skin which would lead me to tell you to just leave it alone. If the itching gets to be unbearable, you could use a low percentage hydrocotisone cream but you DON'T want to put that near the wound. At least not close enough to get into the wound.

If none of that has worked, you're best bet is to leave it alone because if you have sensitive skin, you don't want to further aggravate it. Please make sure you see a doctor if things don't get any better within the next couple days.

My choc lab has dry skin. How can I help him?

Would cod liver oil really help or would I not see much of an improvement?

I need something that will work pretty quickly as he is itchy. It definatley isnt fleas as he is reguarly deflea'd with Frontline drops.

Thanks

My choc lab has dry skin. How can I help him?
My eldest Golden had dry itchy skin and the breeder recommended evening primrose oil capsules (not doggie one's - I use cheapy 500mg ones from Savers or Wilkinsons). She also recommended low fat yoghurt and/or small chunks of cheese.

Both my Goldens have this regularly and don't suffer from dry skin anymore!

So there must be some truth in it!!!
Reply:Take him to the vet as it could be an underlying preoblem.

My golden had skin problems and i give him salmon oil now and his skin got alot better.

Dont bathe your dog to often..maybe every 3 month, brush him daily and try the salmon oil supplement.
Reply:give him a bath
Reply:Oil of evening primrose may help

The vets would be the best ones to advise you on supplements
Reply:Good food lots of water use mild shampoo Watch for what he might be contacting like chemicals or Poison Ivy
Reply:it could still be teh fleas .

Frontline doesn't help with my dogs at all ( maybe 3 days and they are back)

You should have the dog checked by the vet to see if there is an underlying problem causing the dry skin.

I use oil from cooking I put any drained oil in a jar and keep it in teh freezer. I give my dog a 1/2 teaspoon in her food evry other day. it does help my dog
Reply:You could try a drop of baby oil and give him a massage
Reply:Maybe you have been bathing him too often and with the wrong shampoo. Best way to counteract this would be to gently massage some Nivea type cream into his skin. Other thing maybe a reaction to the Frontline (I had this with one dog who lost hair and became itchy). Get your vet to check your dog out soon to save the poor animal more agony
Reply:codliver oil is mainly used for bones.

my dog has cold liver oil(for his bones) and evening primrose each day(for his skin). also try to give him oily fish once a week. I spoke to my vet about giving my dog human tablets/capsuls and he asured me its fine. Holland %26amp; Barrett often have half price capsules http://www.hollandandbarrett.com/pages/p...

If your dog begins to bite specific areas of his body, the area will become sore and sometimes bleed. Over the years i've tried every "solution" on the market ranging from white cider vineger to special diets on my dog, The only one iv found to work (apart from steriods from the vet) is shampoo therapy using Derma pet http://www.dermapet.com/index.html
Reply:my three yr old choc lad had bad dry skin and is prone to ear infectins, my vet said its the breed. i fed her lamb and rice dry food for a awhile and she doesnt suffer with it any more. also try otedex skin cream for dogs and cats. clears em up quick.
Reply:He may have allergies.Does the food he is on have wheat.corn, soy in it? you may try switching his food.Wellness (brand) has a venison or duck with a carb. This helps for dogs with allergies. Many dogs are allergic to chicken also. Merrick (brand) is a very good dog food. There are many premeium brands.Go to the local pet supply store, they can help you.You can add a bit of canola oil to his food.Wash him in an oatmeal based shampoo.Don't shampoo him alot this can dry skin out.Good Luck
Reply:My belgian shepherd had a similar problem. My vet recommended the simplest short-term remedy... when bathing your dog, use a shampoo AND a moisturising conditioner, for his coat!

Cod liver oil will help him in the long-run and is an excellent idea, for his skin and coat, but the conditioner will start to help his skin, right away, to feel less dry and itchy.

NB: you also should not bathe your dog more than once every other week - as bathing him too frequently strips the natural oils, from his coat - drying out his skin.
Reply:i would definately give the vitamin supplements a go but it wont be a quick fix most things for itchy skin can take a few days even a week to sort out and with a supplement u cant go wrong, there is alos shampoo and creams you can buy from pet stores made specifically for this problem which will cool the itching down.
Reply:My baby seemed to have dry skin and dandruff when I adopted him. I bathe him every two weeks with a moisturizing oatmeal shampoo- and the dandruff and itchiness are gone.
Reply:Your dog is lacking in his diet. His coat is saying he needs Omega 3 fish oil. I would suggest that you change your dog over to a homemade food diet, where his body will be getting everything that he needs, which is not possible with a commercail dog food, as none of them are any good. You will not only see a difference in your dog coat, but a difference in the entire dog.
Reply:use baby oil, its fine. baby oil is bought for babies as much as people buy it for their animals
Reply:Purina do a special food for dogs with sensitivities but I cannot remember what it is called. I think it is one of the Bakers range. We used this for our dogs when one seemed to be sensitive to anything and everything and it really did help. Also, for supplements our breeder recommended cod liver oil but what we found was even better was the capsule that combined cod liver oil with evening primrose oil. The great thing with this is that both the dogs and I can take it!!
Reply:Try cod liver oil capsules. Worked great for my dog: and he thinks they're a treat!
Reply:How often is regularly when you say you de-flea him with the drops? This could be irritating his skin. Cod liver oil will help, try putting a small capsule in his food every day, or mix some in with his food. What kind of food do you feed him? If it contains CORN or MAIZE (same thing) that can cause allergic reactions in dogs. My Doberman was on supposedly the best food, "Royal Canin" when we first got him and he had dandruff, I read the ingredients and they were no better than an average dog food. "Science diets" and lots of foods reccomended by vets are not good quality. I changed my dogs to a wholistic food, Burns wholistic food and the Dobermans dandruff went straight away. I recommend Burns, its really good, either that or find another wholistic food that uses all human grade ingredients. You could take him off dog food altogether (probably the best option if you feed him a balanced diet) and feed him small pieces of raw carrot, raw meat, raw chicken, etc.

The food really does make a huge difference, change his food.

Hope this helps.

Reply:Use aveeno oatmeal soak in a warm (not hot) bath to soothe your itchy skin. Pat dry, do not rub hard with a towel. Noxema way too harsh for your skin if it's already sensitive. If you really can't handle the unscented lotions cause they smell bad ( which I don't understand cause they are UN scented) then use vaseline to coat your skin.
Reply:A great thing to use is Palmers Cocao Butter. Buy the one in the circular jar with vitamin E. It works great. My Mom had "snake skin" on her face and used it and it really worked well. ( She had VERY sensitive skin too.) If you can't find that, maybe try 100% cocoa butter? For some reason all of the cocoa butter products are found in the bottom shelf of every store I've been to. Good luck!
Reply:ok, never use anything on your skin that has color or fragrance.

u could try cetaphil. if that doesn't work you should prolly get that checked pronto!!!
Reply:You should see your doctor.. if it's that bad, could be a deficiency. a paraffin wax machine can help. and it feels really good too. a lotion for super sensitive skin covered by cotton gloves at night is also good

Health benefits of water

Functions of water in the body

Water is your body's principal chemical component, comprising, on average, 60 percent of your weight. Every system in your body depends on water. For example, water flushes toxins out of vital organs, carries nutrients to your cells and provides a moist environment for ear, nose and throat tissues.

Lack of water can lead to dehydration, a condition that occurs when you don't have enough water in your body to carry out normal functions.

How much water do you need?

Every day you lose water through your breath, perspiration, urine and bowel movements. For your body to function properly, you must replenish its water supply by consuming beverages and foods that contain water.

A couple of approaches attempt to approximate water needs for the average, healthy adult living in a temperate climate.

Replacement approach. The average urine output for adults is 1.5 liters a day. You lose close to an additional liter of water a day through breathing, sweating and bowel movements. Food usually accounts for 20 percent of your total fluid intake, so if you consume 2 liters of water or other beverages a day (a little more than 8 cups) along with your normal diet, you will typically replace the lost fluids.

Dietary recommendations. The Institute of Medicine advises that men consume roughly 3.0 liters (about 13 cups) of total beverages a day and women consume 2.2 liters (about 9 cups) of total beverages a day.

Even apart from the above approaches, it is generally the case that if you drink enough fluid so that you rarely feel thirsty and produce between one and two liters of colorless or slightly yellow urine a day, your fluid intake is probably adequate.

Factors that influence water needs

You may need to modify your total fluid intake depending on how active you are, the climate you live in, your health status, and if you're pregnant or breast-feeding.

Exercise. The more you exercise, the more fluid you'll need to keep your body hydrated. An extra 1 or 2 cups of water should suffice for short bouts of exercise, but intense exercise lasting more than an hour (for example, running a marathon) requires additional fluid. How much additional fluid is needed depends on how much you sweat during the exercise, but 13 to26 ounces (or about 2 to 3 cups) an hour will generally be adequate, unless the weather is exceptionally warm.

During long bouts of intense exercise, it's best to use a sports drink that contains sodium, as this will help replace sodium lost in sweat and reduce the chances of developing hyponatremia, which can be life-threatening. Fluid also should be replaced after exercise. Drinking 16 ounces of fluid per pound of body weight lost during exercise is recommended.

Environment. Hot or humid weather can make you sweat and requires additional intake of fluid. Heated indoor air also can cause your skin to lose moisture during wintertime. Further, altitudes greater than 2,500 meters (8,200 feet) may trigger increased urination and more rapid breathing, which use up more of your fluid reserves.

Illnesses or health conditions. Signs of illnesses, such as fever, vomiting and diarrhea, cause your body to lose additional fluids. In these cases you should drink more water and may even need oral rehydration solutions, such as Gatorade, Powerade or Ceralyte. Certain conditions, including bladder infections or urinary tract stones, also require increased water intake. On the other hand, certain conditions such as heart failure and some types of kidney, liver and adrenal diseases may impair excretion of water and even require that you limit your fluid intake.

Pregnancy or breast-feeding. Women who are expecting or breast-feeding need additional fluids to stay hydrated. Large amounts of fluid are lost especially when nursing. The Institute of Medicine recommends that pregnant women drink 2.4 liters (about 10 cups) of fluids daily and women who breast-feed consume 3.0 liters (about 12.5 cups) of fluids a day.

Beyond the tap: Other sources of water

Although it's a great idea to keep water within reach at all times, you don't need to rely only on what you drink to satisfy your fluid needs. What you eat also provides a significant portion of your fluid needs. On average, food provides about 20 percent of total water intake, while the remaining 80 percent comes from water and beverages of all kinds.

For example, many fruits and vegetables — such as watermelon and cucumbers — are nearly 100 percent water by weight. Beverages such as milk and juice are also comprised mostly of water. Even beer, wine and caffeinated beverages such as coffee, tea or soda can contribute, but these should not be a major portion of your daily total fluid intake. Water is one of your best bets because it's calorie-free, inexpensive and readily available.

Dehydration and complications

Failing to take in more water than your body uses can lead to dehydration. Even mild dehydration — as little as a 1 percent to 2 percent loss of your body weight — can sap your energy and make you tired. Common causes of dehydration include strenuous activity, excessive sweating, vomiting and diarrhea.

Signs and symptoms of dehydration include:

Mild to excessive thirst

Fatigue

Headache

Dry mouth

Little or no urination

Muscle weakness

Dizziness

Lightheadedness

Mild dehydration rarely results in complications — as long as the fluid is replaced quickly — but more-severe cases can be life-threatening, especially in the very young and the elderly. In extreme situations, fluids or electrolytes may need to be delivered intravenously.

Staying safely hydrated

It's generally not a good idea to use thirst alone as a guide for when to drink. By the time one becomes thirsty, it is possible to already be slightly dehydrated. Further, be aware that as you get older your body is less able to sense dehydration and send your brain signals of thirst. Excessive thirst and increased urination can be signs of a more serious medical condition. Talk to your doctor if you experience either.

To ward off dehydration and make sure your body has the fluids it needs, make water your beverage of choice. Nearly every healthy adult can consider the following:

Drink a glass of water with each meal and between each meal.

Hydrate before, during and after exercise.

Substitute sparkling water for alcoholic drinks at social gatherings.

If you drink water from a bottle, thoroughly clean or replace the bottle often. Refill only bottles that are designed for reuse.

Though uncommon, it is possible to drink too much water. When your kidneys are unable to excrete the excess water, the electrolyte (mineral) content of the blood is diluted, resulting in a condition called hyponatremia (low sodium levels in the blood). Endurance athletes — such as marathon runners — who drink large amounts of water are at higher risk of hyponatremia. In general, though, drinking too much water is rare in healthy adults who consume an average American diet.

If you're concerned about your fluid intake, check with your doctor or a registered dietitian. He or she can help you determine the amount of water that's best for you.

once you are properly hydrated you rarely need lotions which can actually irritate the skin. ones with petroleum bases in them can actually strip the moisture from your skin and keeps any further moisture from penetrating the pores its water repellent. ones with perfumes and other additives can further irritate red and scaley skin.

eucerine is about the best hand cream out there

udder cream works as well. but eucerine is recommended by dermatologists.

remember good food inside including plenty of water or other electrolyte drink like gatorade and use eucerine outside!

pssssst walmart carries Eucerine
Reply:Get Vaseline Moisture Locking lotion.Use it 3-5 times day followed by Vaseline Advanced healing lotion . This should alleviate all your problems. Al so be sure and wear rubber gloves when you wash dishes.
Reply:I'm like that too. Its usually cause of the dryness of winter. Your probly allergic to the lotions your using, I get red and itchy if I use certain lotions. Dont buy anything with weird scents or cheap stuff, itll just make you worse. I use vasilene intensive care lotion or lubriderm. A good thing that works is cover your hands in lotion, just smother it on really thick, then put some rubber gloves on, it keeps the air out and the moisture in. Wear them over night and you should see a big difference in the morning.
Reply:I used to get the symptoms you described, and after a few weeks of trying to figure out what was making my skin dry, I narrowed it down to my soap that I was using.

Dial to be exact, it's an anti-bacterial soap that you can buy in bulk. After I stopped using the anti-bacterial soap my hands healed up drastically.

Try using a mild bar soap unscented, that might work for you.

Plus like some of the others have already suggested you might want to go to the doctor if the symptoms persist.
Reply:try the vasoline - but get yourself a pair of rubber gloves - coat your hands and sleep with the gloves on over night - that should help a lot.

I use aquaphilic for dry skin but dont work well in winter.what els could i use?including face.?

im dry all over.its itchy.

I use aquaphilic for dry skin but dont work well in winter.what els could i use?including face.?
There is a cream called eucerin which i use because i get excema really bad.. there are three different kinds. One is for hands, body, and then face.

Another on is aquaphor is sort of like vasoline but its it much better. I used it when i had a sinus infection and wiping my nose. and it was all rough.. i used it in one day and boom it was gone the next.

They have a new one out I'm not sure who makes it.. but its smells bad but works. its all natural ingredients.

yes, they are a little on the expensive side but they do work.. cause my face gets horrible during the winter especially my nose.

I've tried many different products over the year but the the Eucerin and Aquafor seem to be the two better ones and dont' smell as bad. The only bad part is they are on the expensive side.
Reply:There is a fairly new over the counter cream that I use now called Tone. It is a hydrating cream, and very very good. Also don't wash with soap bars of anykind. Use liquid soap and body wash. You will see a difference in just a couple of days, awesome!
Reply:Dry skin always so irritating...I hate it so much...I suggest you try using Zenmed Derma Lotion from Zenmed or Autopalm from Skinstore.com.

Zenmed has no side effects and it's non-irritant to the skin. It's proven to works fast and it provides Maximum results! It's certainly a good lotion to prevent further outbreaks.

Another product that I think is effective is Atopalm. This dry skin mlm is one of the best seller at skinstore.com now. (Skinstore.com holds more than 10,000 skin care products) It's pretty effective, and worth the dollar paid out.

Weird brown/reddish patch on skin?
Do you lay in a tanning bed or are you in the sun much? have you been checked for skin cancer? I would go to my dermatologist and get it checked. you wouldnt want to have skin cancer and not know it. but then again it could just be stress marks. but i would have it checked just to be safe.
Reply:ask your dermatologist.

I have a question about skin problems...?

Ok, so whenever my body comes in contact with water (like when i take a shower or go swimming) I develop these red patches all over my chest and arms and stuff. And some of them have a little bump in the middle but some are just red and itchy. I'm pretty sure I'm not allergic to water, anyone have any ideas?

I have a question about skin problems...?
you might have an allergy or irritation to chlorine. Even in tap water there are trace amounts, so that may be triggering it. You may want to see your doctor and find out what it is- water is vital- you need to fix this problem.
Reply:You could also have an allergy to colder air hitting your skin. The welts are a good indication.
Reply:maybe you are allergic to the chlorine in the pool or something in the faucet water. i would see a doctor.
Reply:you could have eczema. my two little cousins have eczema and they get red itchy patches on their skin if they are in the water too long they can only take a bath once or twice a week.

I have some sort of skin rection but I dont know what?!?

I have an abscess tooth and was prescribed Amoxicillin to treat it. I have taken this medication before and never had any problems but suddenly I started noticing red, inflamed sore patches with small 'pimple-like' bumps. The patches are all over my face and neck and even a little on my shoulder. They are extremely sore but not really very itchy. The 'pimple-like' things have white heads on them. Its very uncomfortable and kinda gross. Any ideas???

I have some sort of skin rection but I dont know what?!?
Report this to the doctor that wrote your Rx.
Reply:I've never heard of that before but, go back to the doctor and let him look at it. Several people takes meds they have taken before with no problems then suddenly have a reaction to it. Possibly the medication might be bad or something and it's affecting you.

Or, it has nothing to do with the meds your taking and the doctor might refer you to a dermatologist.

I have very sensitive skin and makup breaks me out?? What do I do?!?

I'm so frustrated... I literally tried everything. Cover girl, revlon, nutrogena, almost everything at walmart, and i've tried pysicians formula and bare minerals and it made my face so oily and itchy. Any suggestions, please help!!!

I have very sensitive skin and makup breaks me out?? What do I do?!?
Hey, my cuz had the same problem.

She tried burts bees products. Since all thier ingerdients are natural you shouldn't break out. (burts bees has really nice lip glosses) Good luck
Reply:TRY A NATURAL PRODUCT ONE OF THOSE MINERAL TYPE PRODUCTS THEY ARE GREAT FOR SENSITIVE AND EVEN ACNE PRONE SKIN THEY ABSORB AND DISPERSE BAD OILS AND LEAV E UR GOOD OILS INTACT
Reply:You should go to the mall or Macy*s and buy from better companies.
Reply:Try expensive brands instead of the highstreet ones..

Unless you have any blemishes there is no reason to wear make up though! xx
Reply:I have very sensitive skin. I put on Olay Total Effects Moisturizing Vitamin complex. Then I let it soak in, then I mix a little lotion with my foundation and use Almay Mineral stick for powder.

I’ve also been taking Mega Minerals by GNC, Vitamin E Supplement, one a day Centrum, and Lydia Pinkham’s. I also drink a lot more water now, and I’ve noticed my skin is looking a lot better.

Good luck – I know that it was very frustrating finding something that worked so I didn’t break out all of the time.
Reply:You should go on the Internet - there are various sites on the Internet with make it yourself make up and stuff like that. This means you can put whatever you want in so you don't put things in which you know can harm your skin. It is amazing how many sites there are and you can create some very professional looking make-up.

Hope this helps =]

Reply:I just got samples from EverydayMinerals.com. SO far so good. The ingredients do not contain talc or anything that will make you itch.

Also, I have been using Cetaphil face wash and my skin has calmed down. I have acne breakouts occasionally and this has helped.

Good Luck!

Could be something like rosacea. Or it could be a heat rash. Also, some medications/topical creams can cause reactions when exposed to sunlight.

i was wondering if anyone had any other remedies or solutions for this problem? shes so itchy and flaky.

My has very dry skin and shes itching terribly, the vet said use vegitable oil in her food...?
I assume you mean a Dog?

As dogs age they cannot excrete protein in their urine so it builds up in the body and the first warning sign, dog starts to itch. At that point you need to put the dog on a low protein food, the lowest you can find and you will see the improvement.
Reply:My moms dog is also very itchy and uncomfortable. her vet said she could be allergic to corn, which is in alot of pet foods, and isn't good for any dog apparently. He also told her to put fish oil in her food, or just give her a capsule every day. AND try using distilled water instead of the stuff that comes out of the tap. hope some of this helps your poor pooch!
Reply:dog?

yeah, i was told to rub oil or something on mine. he's a boston terrier with dandruff
Reply:Dry skin problems respond well to self-care measures, such as using moisturizers and avoiding long, hot showers and baths. If you have very dry and scaly skin, your doctor may recommend you use an over-the-counter cream that contains lactic acid or lactic acid and urea.

In a more serious skin disease, such as ichthyosis or psoriasis, your doctor may prescribe prescription creams and ointments or other treatments in addition to home care.

Dry skin leads to dermatitis, which causes red, itchy skin. In these cases, treatment may include hydrocortisone-containing lotions. If your skin cracks open, your doctor may prescribe wet dressings with mildly astringent properties to contract your skin and reduce secretions and prevent infection.

I believe http://www.skinsosilky.com/ will help you best for more advices, ideas and best treatments for any skin problem like dry skin.

Penis itch and pink skin around the end. NO sores and NO discharge. What can it be?

We see each other sexually only on weekends. Being female, I have NO symptoms and when his pink rash is gone by the weekend , we make love and it returns. This has been going on about a month. Never had this happen before to us. Both going to Docter.Doesn't sound like Herpes .Yeast infection maybe? Don't answer unless you've had a itchy penis before.Serious inquiries only.

Penis itch and pink skin around the end. NO sores and NO discharge. What can it be?
Yeast infection is a likely candidate -- we've had them on and off, sometimes worse than others. However, when I have ended up with a yeast infection, it doesn't usually show up as itchiness until the following day.

Everybody has yeast cells, but certain people (especially those with tendencies towards diabetes, low thyroid, or weak immune systems) are more susceptible than others. If you only see each other sexually on the weekends, his body may not have adapted to your "vaginal flora" as they say.

It would be interesting to follow up and see if his skin ever gets dry and flaky after the rash. (That's an EXTREME case, and one I always hated getting because if it gets really dry, it cracks open if it, uhhhh, expands, if you know what I mean.)

You should be examined by a doctor for signs of yeast infection; they'll take a sample and look under the microscope. If you have one you'll probably get a recommendation for over-the-counter meds. The one-dose meds haven't done much for us, but take that with a grain of salt; my wife has diabetes AND low thyroid, so we get the double-whammy. Oh, it's also worse during your period, because there's a lot of material for the yeast cells to consume and grow on.

The single best thing we do: rigorous sanitation after sex. This means getting up as soon as we've caught our breath and taking a shower. I noticed once while reading the box (we were out of magazines...) that the dandruff shampoo I use (Neutrogena T-Gel) has an antifungal agent in it, and yeast is fungus, so I wash off with this shampoo and then dry well. I have NEVER caught a yeast infection when I've done this, so it's become a habit.

The other thing to look into is latex sensitivity. You don't mention what birth control you're using, but if he's wearing condoms he isn't getting yeast from you, but he MIGHT be getting a reaction to the latex. And if you're using a latex diaphragm, he may be reacting to that.
Reply:Perhaps hes allergic to you...it happens!
Reply:i think its scabies.u should consult a dermatologist
Reply:cancer.
Reply:Have you been tested for candida lately? Yes, it could be a yeast infection, it comes and goes.

Or,

Do you use condoms? If yes, he might be sensitive to the rubber or the anti-semen in the condom.

Hope this helps, but it would be wise to see the doctor again, or change doctor!

My daughter has a skin rash, Is there a diagnosis anyone knows about?

it started out like mosquito bites, but now has hot, itchy, angry, red patches

My daughter has a skin rash, Is there a diagnosis anyone knows about?
This is a job for an m.d.

not Yahoo answers
Reply:Your daughter sounds as if she may have eczema dermatitis. Take her to the doctor as this can and usually gets worse. It is caused from allergies. Take her to the doctor. Do not try to self medicate the problem. When eczema has gotten to this point, over the counter hydrocortisone creams do not help it.
Reply:Either an allergic reaction to something or excema? Is she having difficulty breathing? Is she coughing or scratching all over?
Reply:How old your daughter is?

May be she is having allergi to some cloth or bed linen or nappy rash.

Is the rashes are all over the body?

Don't wait go to a peadiatrician
Reply:is it flaky at all? could be dermitis. best bet is just to try topical hydrocortizone creams. if that doesnt work go to your family doctor and he'll probably prescribe some stronger stuff.
Reply:It sounds like Eczema Dermatitis. Best to take her to a doctor immediately as this can worsen. Make sure that she don't scratch them no matter how itchy it is bcos it will spread to other parts of the body if she does that!
Reply:My grandsons both got measles, even though they had the measles vaccine. The doctor said the vaccine isn't 100% effective, and they broke out around midnight on a Sunday.

Your description isn't very detailed. Hot, itchy, red patches could be anything from hives to an allergic dermatitis. I would have the doctor take a peak, but, for now, try some calamine lotion. Most 24 hour supermarkets and drugstores have it. Might give her some relief until you could see the doc.

I do hope she feels better.

Anyone know why my skin gets red and blotchy after I do something outside? Mowing lawn or just playing bball.?

It gets very red and itchy after doing something. When I scratch it it gets worse. I try now to scratch buts its hard not to.

Anyone know why my skin gets red and blotchy after I do something outside? Mowing lawn or just playing bball.?
it is an allergic reaction, you obviously have what is commonly called hayfever. Shower whenever you come in from the yard, and take benadryl to erase the itch.
Reply:could be dry areas that when the sweat hits it your body tries to soak it up and you ich because of the salt that your body is sweating out starts to dry on your skin and that will dry your skin out more so when you scratch you irritate it even more.
Reply:You could have heat rash. I used to get it and HATED it until a counsler at my camp told me what to do...wear cotton shirts so your skin can breathe, because heat rash occurs when sweat can't get out. If you already have heat rash, then bathe in an oatmeal bath and apply aloe vera. I know it's uncomfortable, so I wish you luck!
Reply:It's prolly your allergy reaction. Do see your doctor about it...for the time being, maybe aloe vera gel helps. G'luck!
Reply:It's an allergy. If you cannot treat it with an over-the-counter preparation [Benadryl or a skin ointment] see a specialist. Ask the pharmacist to recommend something until you can get a good diagnosis. You probably need to get a referral from your regular doctor, and there may be a 3-month wait to see a good one.

In the meantime, try to read up on allergies on the Internet and see if you can identify any particular irritants.

I have very dry skin on my forehead, is these anything i can do?

I am a man in my 40's, and sometimes it is a little itchy. No not being in my 40's,! but my forehead!

Thanks!

I have very dry skin on my forehead, is these anything i can do?
Being in your 40's can be a bit itchy, I agree.
Reply:use a moisturizer
Reply:put some lotion of that ashy forehead..:)
Reply:moisteriser
Reply:Buy a good skin moisturiser.
Reply:LOts of mousturizer or lotion. Buying brand names(Lubriderm is the one we found works best for our son) with this actually DOES make a difference. They also say to not use soap on your face, but I started using Dove and it helps some too. I have a 10 month old with moderate eczema and these are just a few of the things we've done to help him. Hope it helps you too!@
Reply:try nivea moisturiser for 2 weeks and youll notice a difference.
Reply:Try using Head and shoulders shampoo, works wonders for my daughter and shes only 14 . :) good luck
Reply:A good quality moisturiser should help if not find out wether it is scaly, in which case it could be warning signs of sun related damage - check up with your Skin specialist
Reply:It depends really. If you have always had dry skin or if it is a recent development. If it is recent, you need to check out if there is anything new that is in direct contact with your skin that may be causing it. For example a new type of soap you have been using, a new deodorant, new moisturizer or even new clothes. Any of the above could be a reason for witch your skin is reacting differently then normally. If you have always had dry skin, you should go and see a dermatologist because they do help sometimes. I recently had the measles and I didn't know because I thought I had already had them when I was a child plus, I didn't get spotty or anything. Well, the reason I went to a dermatologist is because I had excessively dry skin.

Sometimes it is more then simple dry skin, it could be anything from a virus, a infection or even a cold. Your skin is just as much effected by any change in health as the rest of your body.

Whats wrong with my skin?

i have little red bumps all over my legs and stomach, they are very itchy and are driving me crazy, what can i do to get rid of them? or how can i get them to stop itching? i havent eaten anything out of the ordinary lately (that i remember), and i havent put any new products on my body lately?

Whats wrong with my skin?
have you had chicken pox? if not, that could be your problem. if you've had them, do you have allergies? if so, it could be laundry detergent, fabric softener, change of soaps or shower gels, lotions, etc. can you think of anything you've changed like that? or have you eaten anything that you don't normally eat? could you have gotten around any poison ivy or poison oak? if you can't remember doing anything different, I'm going to guess that you've either got an allergy to something, or having a skin problem that my aunt suffers from. I can't remember what it's called, but she gets little red bumps that itch like crazy and she has to see a dermatologist for it.

if you're having an allergic reaction, and want to make sure that's what it is, try putting some Benadryl cream on the affected area and see if that helps. be sure to follow the directions. or you could take the Benadryl capsules instead. just remember never to use the cream and the oral medication together. you will overdose on it.

Hope you feel better soon.
Reply:maybe bed bugs
Reply:If the little red bumps have fluid in them then you could have chicken pox.
Reply:either zits, so shower more often or chicken pox
Reply:It could be an infestation: fleas, chiggers, bed bugs, etc
Reply:sounds like chicken pox. very contagious. get a dx. and stay away from others until you do.
Reply:hives probably

they come from pretty much any irritation

sometimes i get them for no reason at all

eucerin and anti-itch cream will most likely put a stop to it

check what your clothes are made of, and if you're allergic to any of the fibers

Whats wrong with my skin after being in the cold?

It is frost bite. It may take a couple of days before these symptoms go away. Next time, don't stay out so long in the cold. Frostbite can cause some permanent damage.

Did anyone have a skin problem when coming off the pill?

not a pimple break out but like a rash? eczema? i have this funny looking rash in my inner elbow and every one seems to think its eczema, it started a little after i came off the pill but i can blame the pill for it. its getting bigger and is itchy... anyone?

Did anyone have a skin problem when coming off the pill?
i wouldn't say that that is directly the cause of the eczema. usually the drier the air the worse mine gets but when i came off the pill my face, chest, and back all exploded into a haven for wayward pimples! ick! it's going slowly away but still, it's terrible! good luck and talk to your doc about getting some good eczema cream. i like the offbranded anti itch cream personally. oooh, and for some reason tanning lotion seemed to help it too. well tanning too, but i was jonesing for some lotion and had some old stuff in the house and stuck it on there and it seemed to work pretty well.
Reply:Not me. I was on the pill for 4 years and did not have any skin problems. It could be your body's reaction to going off the pill. You really should see a doctor about it.

I Have A weird skin problem on my arm?

Its Like little bites on my arm but they are all pusssy a bit like pimples and they are very itchy. I Recently got a new matress for my bed i thought it was bed bugs but then again they would be all over my body. Ive been putting Savlon on it but it doesnt seem to be working all tht well. does anybody know what it is and if you do can you tell me somethink to stop it from spreading and irritating

I Have A weird skin problem on my arm?
impetigo or scabies
Reply:sounds more like ant bites/micro organisms or poison ivy. wash and keep the are clean and dry (scratching may spread the problem). take benadryl and if the problem persists, see a dermatologist.
Reply:try putting gold bonds powder all over the bed, rub it in, then vacuum it off. after that double up on the sheets after washing them with bleach (if white) if that doesn't work try buying an ionic breeze from sharper image to get certain allergens out of your air.

if all that fails maybe its not the bed trace your steps every day it happens to find anything else you might have changed.
Reply:Go to a clinic. Anything that is oozing should be looked at. There is a new bacteria out there that is highly dangerous and can infect you that is resistant to antibiotics called (forgive the spelling but sounds like) Mursa. Better to be safe than sorry.
Reply:The best person who would give you a better answer would be your primary care doctor, he'll refer you to a dermatologist. If you do not have a doctor, then I'm sure there are some low income clinics around your area.

I'm sure it is not "Mursa" or MRSA as someone else has mentioned. MRSA stands for Methicillin Resistant Staph. Aureus. It's just Staph bacteria that is resistant to full spectrum antibiotics. If you're a healthy individual, your body can fight it. MRSA would produce a fever and red streaks up your arm if you did have it. It doesn't seem that you have the symptoms of MRSA since these are pimples and it is itchy. The pussing may be because you are itching it. But like i said, only a referal to a dermatologist would determine what it is.

Urgent help with a skin condition.?

This has happened before and it is absolutely terrible. I got badly sunburned and now my chest is breaking out in cold-sores. Last time this happened I saw a doctor and he gave me some medication for it and it helped a bit but does anyone have any tips on how to get rid of it fast? My chest is literally filled with cold-sores, and they are extremely itchy and when I sleep I roll over and stuff and rub them on my bed and they get worse.

Please any advice?

Urgent help with a skin condition.?
are they cold sores(herpes) or are they blisters from the sun............. get some A %26amp; D ointment (which is used to treat burns, tattoos, diaper rash, etc) or even some aloe and wait it out.. once they start healing, i would use neosporin on the worse sores so they heal without scarring badly
Reply:Go see a doctor!!

Stop using it and let the allergic reaction run its course.
Reply:stop using clinique...that should do the trick

First of all please stop using Clinique .

It is obvious you have an allergy to it.

If i were you I'd go to my doctor and explain what has happened and I am sure he will prescribe something to stop the irritation.

With excema you have to be careful what you use.

Maybe try Neutri-medics.

I know it is expensive but it is all natural.

Hope this has helped.

Reply:If you are looking for home remedy to reduce wrinkles, try this.

Smear honey on your face and leave it for as long as possible (but 5-10mins a day will do). then rinse off with tepid water mixed with a teaspoon of cider vinegar - this has a neutral pH and will act as a toner.

And if you have some bucks, Lifecell anti wrinkle cream would be a good choice. You can have more information here.

A bump on my skin with white head?

I get these bumps on my face from time to time, usually on the forehead or on the cheek or under the mouth/chin. If they're ripe and I squeeze it, pus usually comes out. They can get really itchy. What are these?

A bump on my skin with white head?
Most commonly they are zits, but they could be hives also if they itch. Check it out with a dermatologist, he can assess the problem better than we can
Reply:zits
Reply:pimples or zits probably...if you think it's something different though, ask your doctor to take a look at them. i'm sure its nothing to worry about, though
Reply:pimples...they're normal. use something with salicylic acid in it(like oxy) to heal them.
Reply:zits
Reply:They're white heads. Try not to squeeze them because they can get infected. Wash you face with facial cleanser and put acne medication on them.
Reply:problem a boil, pull the inside of a egg off place it over the injury, also real cold salt fat meat, both will draw the bump up and out.
Reply:the best way to avoid these is to wash your face with your favorite face wash and then use seabreeze antiseptic lotion after it comes in different strengths an can be found in the pharmacy . the best thing is to be consistant. good luck oh and try not to touch your face during the day.

Extreme case of dry skin?

I have had a dry spot on my ankle for a few years now, that has been getting worse, its very dry, red %26amp; itchy and has been progressivly spreading up my leg. And sometimes a crack opens into a sore. I have tried numerous Anti-biotic,Steroid %26amp; topicol Creams %26amp; nothing seems to help. I have a Picture if anyone who is interested in looking at it. I will email it. please help %26amp; give advice if you know anything about this problem.

Extreme case of dry skin?
Try a creme called Eucerin. It comes in a tub and it is non scented. It is made for really dry skin, eczema %26amp; psoriasis. You can get it anywhere. My mom buys it because she has eczema really bad. And the doctor also told my mom to take flax seed oil.. it is supposed to bring out natural oils in your skin. And if that doesnt work, try going to the Doc!
Reply:have you tried (corn huskers) lotion.it works really well with dry and cracked skin. or see a dermatologist
Reply:My husband had something similar, same symptoms on the same spot. He finally went to the dermatologist and he told him it was a weird infection. He treated him with oral antibiotics and a topical cream. After 1 week of treatment, his condition seems to be improving. You should probably visit your dermatologist.
Reply:My mother is a diabetic, and her feet and legs are so dry, I can barely look at them. For her, I bought her Aveeno lotion, Heard about from a friend. Try the one with the Green stripe across it. My Mother loves it, and she's got a large bottle now. She puts it on and claims that the itching is gone right away. Its got great ingredients in it. Aside from lotion they also have bath soak packets that come in a box. I'm going to get her those to soak her feet in, her heels crack easily. Its the diabetes. Hope this helps, you won't be sorry.
Reply:GET A ALOE VERA PLANT , RUB THE SAP OVER THE WHOLE AREA
Reply:if you want to try something less expensive, i recomend going to a local rite aid or phrmacy and picking up some nuetrogena moisturizer. it is a great brand garunteed to work. they also have super great exfoliater. just apply dollop onto your skin every morning and night. after a week or so ,your skin should be better! it is cheap too!
Reply:You may be low on good oils %26amp;/or vitamins %26amp; minerals. You might try adding more olive oil %26amp; walnut oil to your diet %26amp; really avoiding trans fats. You might also try really increasing your vitamin B ,C, %26amp; potassium intake (by quite a lot - your body may be very low on these). Try curing it through diet because the creams are just a band-aid.
Reply:The source below is a good source of info for dry skin care.
Reply:Have you consulted with your doctor yet? It might be psoriasis. Other than that, try to exfloliate the area to take away the dry upper layer, then put a moisturizer that is compatible with your skin type. Drink lots of water and just keep yourself well hydrated.

Red bumps of my skin, what causes this?

Recently I started to have this dime size red bumps on my torso. At first I thought it was a spider bite, because I only had 1 of them , then I started getting mulitple ones. I had them on my chest and on my sides close to my underarms. They were red and dry so I tried to put some lotion on them. They also were itchy. Then they went away. But I still have a couple lingering around. I don't really know exactly what caused them or how to prevent them from coming back any ideas?

Red bumps of my skin, what causes this?
sounds like sweat.

but definitely go consult a dermatologist about this.
Reply:go see a dermatologist. i had a rash once that started on my torso it was called pitirasis rosea...(the spelling may be wrong) but it starts in moist areas of the torso and spreads. the rash tends to look like a cedar tree. it is extremely itchy. if this is what you have you will need a medicated soap from the dr.

my dr told me that it is common in teens and younger adults and they are not sure what causes it.

Has anyone else had skin problems since using tegretol?

I don't mean acne, but an itchy scalp and burning really easy in the sun? If you did what did you do to combat it?

Has anyone else had skin problems since using tegretol?
You need to talk about this with your doctor. It is not a typical side effect with this drug.

Red surface rash on skin?

When I get sick like a cold, over tired, stressed to the max from physical or mental exersion, or even food poisoning, I break out in a rash mainly on my torsso but also on my arms and legs. It's a little itchy but not much and if it's severe I'll peel after.

What is that all about??

Red surface rash on skin?
Hives probably

Hives are caused by an allergic reaction within the body. Histamine is released under the skin and causes areas of swelling.

WHAT DO HIVES LOOK LIKE?

They appear as red or white, raised welts on the skin. They can appear suddenly out of nowhere, and can spread rapidly. They are most common on the chest, tummy, and back, but can also be on the extremities, and rarely on the face. A very distinct characteristic of hives is that each welt will often come and go over a period of 10 to 15 minutes or as long as a few hours. You will see some welts on the tummy, and then look again an hour later and find them gone, only to see new ones on the back. The welts can be small or very large, round or irregularly shaped, single or clustered together and over-lapping. They usually itch, but not always.

WHAT CAUSES HIVES?

There are many possible causes of hives:

Illness – illnesses are the most common cause of hives in children. The body can have an allergic reaction to the illness. These illnesses are usually viruses, but can be any cause. So, if your child is sick, and breaks out in hives, it is probably due to the illness. A note – don't worry about what illness might be causing the hives. If there is no fever or symptoms of any illness, then the hives probably are not due to illness. If there is a fever, but no other symptoms, then it is probably a harmless virus. Click on Fever for help on what to do.

Foods – foods that most commonly cause hives include shellfish, nuts, berries, and fish. Think about any new foods your child might have eaten in the past 24 hours.

Medications – any medicine can potentially cause hives. Think back through the past 24 hours. Have you given your child any medication (it doesn't have to be a new medicine)? If your child is sick, have you been using any cold medicine or new kind of pain or fever medication? If so, it may be hard to tell if the hives are from the illness or the medicine.

External irritant – there are a variety of substances that children come into contact with each day that they can be allergic too. The list includes new soap or shampoo, new laundry detergent or fabric softener, new suntan or other lotion, new clothes, blankets, or bed sheets, and playing outside among grass and bushes. Try to think of anything new that could have come into contact with your child's skin.

Despite all these possible causes, most of the time a parent or doctor is unable to pinpoint the definite cause of the hives. It is not necessary to determine the cause of the hives unless your child continues to have a problem with recurrent hives.
Reply:eczma or psoariasis of the skin-comes up when body is stressed.see you doctor.
Reply:infections can cause welts not hives to form welts are large areas instead of small rashlike spots. as for when being stressed the body can react with an itchy rash from your nerves this is normal but the peeling isn't. are you scratching alot? if so don't it can cause an infection and make it worse. try benadryl when this happens it makes the itching stop and makes the hives/welts go away faster and also has a calming effect at the same time Good Luck
Reply:I chose this question because I thought I could answer it. But, I'm at a loss. I apologize for not being able to help you. I do however, feel for you. That must be miserable. And forgive me but I can't stop thinking about that movie "Something About Mary". What was that guys name? Weeble or something.?
Reply:Stress can cause excema reactions that vary in severity. I get the excema rash on my legs, arms, face and neck when I'm stressing about something, or boxed in a corner over something.
Reply:See a dermatologist. Pure speculation on my part, but since the rash occurs in such a variety of way, I might be inclined to believe it's your nerves. Everyone has a weakness with some type of body organ, or symptoms when under stress. Could be yours is a rash. But just to be on the safe side, please make an appointment with a dermatologist. Thanks for the opportunity of address your most interesting question.
Reply:You've probably got hives. Or bedbugs (but probably not). It's an allergic reaction. Take an antihistamine. Benadryl might knock you out. Try Zantac, Claritin, or Allegra. I think I got mine from sleeping on a bare mattress. It can also come from the saturation of laundry detergent in the skin.

Pink rash/patches on skin esp. on face n neck?

been having this for last 4 yrs. dermie can't tell what's causing it but he prescribed Telfast or Zirtec, etc. sometimes even taking these are ineffectiv but he said to just continue take the medication to "chase it n not let it chase u". Sometimes patches simply break out, no itch at all but at other times there r welts n itchy until I apply a cream like Physiogel which is v effectiv. I suspec I cud b allergic to certain foods but haven't been successful in finding out the cause so far. Anyone had this problem, can help pls ....?

Pink rash/patches on skin esp. on face n neck?
Yeah, my Hubby has the same problem..Dermatologists have got no clue how to treat it, so they just keep prescribing those nasty creams...who wants to look all gross and greasy all the time? Funny, you never see them using that kind of stuff to treat themselves! Basically the only way to treat this is to take some kind of steroids, either through pills or shots. But you need to find a Doctor who is understanding to get them to prescribe you with it...Good luck %26amp; God bless!
Reply:usually a good dermy would simply test for liver or kidney disease...when one or the other or both are ailing, rashes appear....and they don't always even have to be the same rash.

things to test for, kidney diseases and diseases of the liver, such as HCV, autoimmune hepatitis, fatty liver (NASH) Report It

Reply:Take allergy tests and they should be able to tell you, you will also be tested for foodstuffs and if they can't pin point which one is giving you the allergy, they'll make you stop taking some foodstuffs and slowly introduce them again to see which one is bothering you. You should really see a dermatologist and take the tests.

Leg wax for sensitive skin?

My legs are very sensitive. (even to most lotions). I would like to wax them or get rid of my unwanted hair on mt legs, and have tried hair removal creams but they all irritate! I wonder if I should ask a dermatologist? Any suggestions on something I could try? Eww!!! What are these?! They're some sort of skin allergy/rash?

I'm 16 and I would get these tiny red dots all over my leg (and just my leg) every month. It's horrible! It's always unbearably itchy which makes it worse. Sometimes they get inflamed and i feel a burning sensation. Half of them are just flat... itchy red dots (no its not chicken pox) and half of them are bumpy like (kind of like a mosquitoe bite but its not) and in the middle is a tiny hole. Look for yourself.

Dermatitis ... you are getting into something like poison iv y or you have food allergies ...

I have that rash, too ...

go see an allergist ... you do NOT want to see the list of food I would recommend you to avoid (includes wheat, dairy, shellfish, etc.)

mine flares up when I eat thai curry b/c of the shrimp paste ...
Reply:you need to go to the Dr and have these checked out!
Reply:I believe you have hives.

Reply:sounds like chiggers..have you been in grass, woods etc...by being on your legs only you think of crawling insects etc...

possibly fleas or scabies.

could be allergic rxn to socks or detergent..but should be where rest of your clothes touch too?
Reply:It looks like poison ivy or poison oak. Have you been out in the forest? Do you have pets with fleas? I would get to a dermatologist, quickly! If it itches that badly.
Reply:I can see from the picture that you sent that it must be a contact dermatitis. This happen when any surface, like your socks, water or any allergen for that matter get in contact with your skin. In your case, your foot. The itchiness is cause by the allergic reaction. You can wash your feet daily and put dry and clean socks when needed. You may as well apply any anti itch cream like dermovate or probably you can take in some anti- histamines which you can just buy in any drug house, over the counter. :)
Reply:This looks like an allergic rash. Is it possible that your house has flea's? (maybe a pet in the past had them and the pet is no longer in the house?) Typically if a flea has an animal to bite, they don't bite humans but if the animal is removed and they are hungry... they will bite humans.

That flea thing is just a guess but it totally looks like an allergic rash. You really should go to the doctor as they can give you something to make you more comfortable and maybe they can figure out what the allergy is.
Reply:It looks like it's in your sock area - maybe you are allergic to the rubber/laytex used in the socks? There is an elastic thread they use on the ankles of socks to keep them up. You should try wearing a different brand, maybe all cotton for a month to see if it helps that go away.

Also, seeing a doctor for this would be a good idea.
Reply:go see an allergist ... if your parents don't take you, they either have crappy insurance or are clueless ...
Reply:Its hard to say what this might be . . . In order of likelihood: atopic dermatitis or allergic reaction caused by wearing something that irtitates you skin; fungal infection (Tinea or Candidiasis), or some type of herpetic infection (similar to cold sores - not the STD).

I am having a skin problem, please help me or recommend a good product!?

The condition starts off as small, dry looking, itchy bumps (a bunch of them, only on my thighs and calves). And then, say... a week later a small ring appears, but it gets bigger... and then more ringers appear near the first right... it gets really bad... and it eventually goes away. Say, I would have a bunch of them, and then I wake up in the morning and it is completely gone. What is it? It is not Eczema or eczema, because it doesn't look like that. It looks more like a scabby ringworm.

Oh, and the last one that I had five months ago, left a dark sport on my thigh! :( What is this crap?!

Oh, and lotion doesn't help either. If I put too much on, the thingies get raw and it hurts like hell.

If it is Ring worm, Iodine will stop it, this is what a doctor will use. You should see a doctor anyway if you can't take care of it.

For months now my skin itches, how do I stop it?

I have tried everything over the counter, change to products with no dyes or purfumes, allergy pills, even tried lice stuff to make sure it wasn't a parasite. Anything they have at the drug store I tried. I get a small itchy rash bump that looks like a heat rash only it is on different parts of my body. it itches night and day. cort10 does not slow it down, I need some relief. The Dr said to go to a dermatoligst, I have no insurance. Has anyone experienced this and found relief?

For months now my skin itches, how do I stop it?
If the doctor would write you a script for a steroid cream, I found that to stop the itching when nothing else works. It's stronger than what we can buy over the counter. Can't use it for a long time, but it may take care of the problem.

If you haven't already tried oatmeal or baking soda soaks in the bathtub, I'd give them a try. I think the baking soda works the best, just put a cup or 2 in a warm bath, soak for 15 minutes or so.

Good Luck, this has to be sooo annoying!
Reply:omg it really sucks i have been living with this for about 2 years now I WENT TO A DERMATOLOGIST and they said it looks to be eczema and gave all kinds of med to try will guess what they did not help eeeeerrrrrrrrr its not eczema I'm pretty sure about that because like you said there are little spots all over not alot in one spot the only thing that helps even alittle is baby oil(gel) and lotion after a bath or shower every time and don't take as long of showers and bath and not to hot good luck and let me know if you find some thing else

Help me with my skin this is urgent, I HAVE TO GO TO A party in 2 days!!!!?

The problem is that my armpits are red (on the inside) and it looks like they have mosquito bites all over them but I don't! They are also really itchy and if I keep itching them they get worse and then they feel sore. When I put on anti-itch cream they burn for like 10 mins. but then the feel fine, but I want them to look normal. What do I do? Is this normal? Do I ave a sickness? Help? =[

Help me with my skin this is urgent, I HAVE TO GO TO A party in 2 days!!!!?
Sounds like a reaction to shaving. Try applying hydrocortisone instead of the anti-itch cream and see if that works better. You might even alternate the two.

Applying ice packs under your arms might help alleviate the pain and discomfort. I suggest calling a pharmacist to check the advice about the hydrocortisone and the Benadryl cream (anti-itch) and also to see if that can give better advice.

As far as the party is concerned, if at all possible plan on wearing something that doesn't reveal your armpits so that you can give them time to heal. The only other thing that comes to mind is to avoid deodorant as much as possible to give your skin more time to heal without having a bunch of different irritants on it.

Ensure that your razor blade is new when shaving and use a good shave cream. If you find that you break out after shaving, use aloe vera or even Neosporin and baby powder. You may need to see your doctor if the condition worsens. I do know that if you try to cover it with it still being very irritated that you will probably make matters worse. Good Luck and enjoy the party. Remember you have to roll with the punches sometimes so don't allow this to ruin your plans.
Reply:Hey,

Thanks for that!! The party was great NO ONE NOTICED!!!!

You suggestion worlked but I called my doctor and she told me that what you said helps but theres something that helps even more!!!
