Skin problem?

ok. here is what happened to me in the past few months. i had a bout of fungal activity on my feet.. i had seen a doctor and been prescribed a cream. it seems to be better, and i've been extremely diligent in washing hands any time i'm in contact with anything!

but now.. my FACE feels weird! and i am so scared, that some bumps on my now very itchy face seem like they are in the shape of a ring? is this really ringworm? i am so scared and sad. i am a clean person in general.. i take showers often and have never had problems with this in my WHOLE life! i made an appointment for the doctor, but the soonest is next week!

does this sound like it is ringworm, or could it just be some acne flareup? :(****

Skin problem?
Unless you have acne rosacea, it is very unlikely to be an acne flareup. Regular acne almost never itches, and it also seldom forms a ring shape.

But there's a micro-organism called rosacea (also sometimes called acne rosacea) that can cause those symptoms.

Ringworm is an infection of the skin, hair, or nails caused by a fungus. *not a virus*!!

It gets its name from its appearance on the skin, because the rash is often ring-shaped.

Other names for ringworm include tinea, dermatophytosis, athlete's foot (ringworm of the feet), and jock itch (ringworm of the groin). Despite the name, ringworm is not caused by a worm.

Since the same fungus causes both ringworm %26amp; athlete's foot, it is possible that you have accidentally spread the foot fungus onto your face. Even with diligent handwashing, the fungus will sometimes spread.

I am also an obsessively clean person, but despite thorough handwashings, I accidentally spread foot fungus to a fingernail once, since I had to use my fingers to apply the antifungal cream... some fungal spores managed to hide under a fingernail of mine and grow there. :(
Reply:web MD - skin rashes / problems may help u out use the link to get to the site, and good luck to you
Reply:No ring worm is a bit like dry skin but in the shape of a ring
Reply:maybe its a side effect of the meds

i know my uncle had nail fungus and took meds, they worked really well but then he got anal fungus (gross huh?) and the doc told him it was a med sideffect

but good luck hope its nothin serious
Reply:Yeah, sounds like ringworm, it's not a big deal, it'll go away, I had it years ago -it's a virus, it'll never go away, but your body will become immune to it and you'll probably never see it again.

I think I first got it on my foot in a community shower ( a gym)

or at the time I worked in a kennel and it can be caught from an animal - I know dogs can get it.

Just like most viruses (most) they won't kill you, just gives your body something to build antibodies to fight.

By the way, I never gave this to anyone, married for 8 years with 3 kids, noone ever caught it, and I think it is only active when you can see it.

Oh, yeah, there is an ointment to get rid of it, the vet I worked for actually gave it to me- WebMD should help.

It isn't a big deal, though, don't stress out. Even the common cold is a virus.
