I have a very red and itchy rash under both my armpits?

It started about a week ago and doesn't seem to be getting any better. I have used powder to try and dry the skin but it is not working. Does anyone have a suggestion for clearing this rash up?

I have a very red and itchy rash under both my armpits?
Did this start after you shaved? It could be from a dull and/or dirty razor.

It could also be heat rash.

It could also be from being 'damp', try using a gentle non-fragranced soap (it will say gentle and non-fragranced) in the area, and then dry all the way- use a hypo-allergenic or 'sensitive skin' deodorant for awhile.

Try some hydrocortizone on it in case it is an allergic reaction and try to think of anything that you have done differently such as a different deodorant, laundry detergent etc.

Also this is common from shirts rubbing 'just right'.

here is apic of armpit fungus if you are concerned about that ** needs medical attention** (otherwise known as 'Tinea Corporis'

Reply:Are u using other people deoderant?....that's a case in which a rash can occur or do u know if your allegic 2 the ingredients in the deoderant?
Reply:If you changed you deodorant or anti pursperent, you could be having an allergic reaction. I suggest not using these products for a couple of days...
Reply:Go check a doc right away!!!!
Reply:I would have a doctor look at the rash under a microscope. You might need an anti-fungal or antibacterial medication to clear up the rash. Any dark, moist, warm environment can cause an infection. You could have a translocation of the bacteria that cause jock itch, or athletes foot or an infection from a bacteria in that family. Definitely see a Dr, so you can receive the right treatment.

i notice that i am losing my underarm hair! the skin is also gettin darker...what do i do??

My armpits have recently been quite itchy and now ...?
It is probably your deodorant.Try washing more frequently and not using it
Reply:Did you change deoderants? Maybe its an allergic reation...
Reply:stop using any deo's. Wash only with water and cetafil cream, do not use any talcum, this seems like dry skin problem.,

Big lump on neck and head, itchy sore face and eye on left side, no rash???

Been to the doctors twice, two diff docs, one said i think its shingles, second said bacterial skin infection, taken 2 meds, one for shingles aand antibiotic for infection, docs didn''t seem to care, don't feel any better, if anything, itchings got worse, but theres no rash or anything, all on my left side face, mainly forehead and around my eye, getting more lumps too, fairly big, but no scabs as u would get with shingles??? anyone help, gettibng desperate now, docs don't seem to care and i don't want to go back again, been going on for just over a week now

Big lump on neck and head, itchy sore face and eye on left side, no rash???
Scabs will take a while to develop on shingles ( they would be like sore, purple-ish, un-poppable zits right now), and the meds (probably acyclovir?) will only help curb an infection already in process, and only if taken in the first 72 hours. Are you sick at all? Headache, lethargy, fever? That's how I feel with a shingles outbreak, but a big lump on neck %26amp; head doesn't sound like shingles- they travel in a line along a nerve path.

Contact a pharmacy to see if your anti-biotic %26amp; the shingles meds are even compatable. Finish out the meds if they are, and go back if you don't feel better. If they aren't compatable, go back immediately %26amp; ask for lab tests(if there are any) to determine exactly what it is so you can have the appropriate course of treatment.
Reply:I understand you do not want to go back but you need to! Be firm and tell them that you are not well and that you are not happy with the treatment. They need to listen to your concerns and find out that is wrong with you. Do not be scared of doctors!!! They are there for you and if we stand up for ourselves instead of being intimidated they will do a much better job. Good luck
Reply:oh yes ...the cure for this is to bury your head in the sand for not less than 7 days...the salt water will either rot it away or you will drown and all will be ok
Reply:AIDS, have you made a will

I have skin problem:i have acne, sensitive, sometimes dry mostly oily skin.tried few med. but didnt work. help

Do you guys have any advice? I tried some medicines from Doctors but it didn't really work.I tried Proactive but it also didn't really work,my face was getting red and a little bit itchy (the face didn't get better at all) also i've tried Clearasil, the same result but worst. i can't stop scratching. I've tried Dr. Secret before it was working but not for long. It seems like i can't use the same medicine for too long. do any of you have the same experience or any advice or anything? Thanks

I have skin problem:i have acne, sensitive, sometimes dry mostly oily skin.tried few med. but didnt work. help
see a licensed dermotologist, a good one should be able

to help clear you up. You have combination skin, so what works for oily doesn't help dry and vice vesa. your meds.

are complicating your problem
Reply:simple, get some dial antibacterial liquid soap, foam face up good, rinse with hot and then cold water, apply aloe

vera gel on face afterwards, problem solved!
Reply:Me too. Senstive, acne prone skin. It sucks. I find that the Arbonne (it's like Avon) 3 step system is really good...but pricey. I also use St. Ive's apricot scrub and Ivory bar soap. Works like magic. Good luck!
Reply:trust me on this one i can seriously help you. well first of all you need to go to a dermatologist i know you have been to some before but you need to go to one that perscribes accutane it is the most powerful drug you can get for acne, but only some dermatologist can perscribe it to you because it is so powerful. there are some serious side effects but if you want to clear up your acne and never see it again trust me this works. i promise it will never come back even after years. it is a last resort tough so if you do take my advice they may at first try you on a topical treatment and then if that dont work they will perscribe you accutane. i wish you the best
Reply:It sounds like you've been using way too harsh stuff for sensitive skin. Clearasilis diabolical stuff.

Try something much more gentle %26amp; without alcohol in it. I have tried so many products over the years both prescribed and bought over the counter but my skin is too sensitive to chemicals.

I tried this stuff recently, http://www.rosacea-remedy.com/remedy.htm... it's for rosacea %26amp; hyper sensitive skin conditions %26amp; I'm gettingon really well with it.

Whatever you do, don't wash your face too often and if I was you I'd avoid soaps.
Reply:Go to www.acne.org and follow Dan Kern's regimen. It really works! I use the Cetaphil wash, the Neutragena On The Spot 2.5% benzoyl peroxide medication (10% is in most acne medication, this can actually make your acne worse!), and the Complex 15 lotion. You can prbly find this stuff at your local drugstore. Seriously, I started doing this regimen twice a day and my skin is really clearing. What can it hurt to try? Good luck.
Reply:To get rid of acne. Try a gentle cleanser. One that is glycerin or sorbitol based will be good and it does not need to be expensive. Cetaphil and Neutrogena has some pretty good ones. Try Cetaphil® Gentle Skin Cleanser.

Proactiv works for some people it clears up for a while but acne may come back. It is also very harsh on your skin and may dry it all up, definitely not for people with sensitive skin. My friend said it corroded and bleached her metal sink so if it can do that to the sink, think of what it is doing to your face. So Proactiv is a no no.

Wash your face at least twice a day and everytime after you perspire. If your skin is the oily kind, you do not need to apply any moisturizer, your skin oils are enough to keep it hydrated. If you really must apply a gentle light oil free one. Cetaphil® Daily Facial Moisturizer SPF 15 or Cetaphil® Moisturizing Lotion is quite good

Apply pimple cream to the acne area. Try benzoyl peroxide low strength(2.5%) first. Don't pick poke scrub or pop your pimples unless you want scars which are really ugly. Scrubbing cleansers or washes are also no-nos because it equals picking and poking and makes acne worse Treated pimples gently.

Eat healthy. Make sure you drink plenty of water. Cut down on sugar and carb intake. Foods like chocolates, coffee, soda drinks, bread, rice potatoes or anything starchy and sugary are no-nos. Cut down on oily and fried foods also. Go for grilled, steamed or baked food. Make sure you eat lots of fruits and vegetables. Ensure that your diet is rich in vitamin A, C, E and Omega-3 which are important for the skin. Less stress and sleeping enough is also important. Not having enough sleep is like putting stress on your body. Makes sure you sleep at least 8 hours a day.

If you are a smoker. Try to quit. Smoking causes a lot of damage to your skin because it introduces toxins to it. These toxins can clog the pores or make the skin harder to breathe and that’s when the acne bacteria set in. The toxins also cause longer healing of the acne as well as the marks and scars left behind by acne.

I have poison oak!!!-really itchy!!-?
Baking soda and water. Will help to dry it out, also help with the itch.
Reply:First, you need to stop itching, it only makes the rash worse. Second, you should go see you doctor. They will evaluate the extent of your rash and put you on medicine that will greatly improve your signs and symptoms. If it is extensive throughout your body, an oral steroid may be necessary for 5 of so days, if not, a strong topical steroid will do. For the itching, OTC Benadryl or generic is best. One to two every 6 six hours, but be careful....it probably will make you drowsy...no driving!!!
Reply:Benadryl topical liquid--it's clear, colorless, almost odorless--is the best itch-stopper I've ever found. I think it costs about $5.50, which seems high until you realize how much better it works than the mid-price stuff.

Any decent drugstore will have it. Go now!

Edit: I don't know if it's safe to use if you're also taking Benadryl orally. Ask the pharmacist.
Reply:The rash (allergic contact dermatitis) from poison ivy, oak, or sumac generally is mild and can be treated at home. Home treatment for the rash usually helps relieve symptoms rather than speeding up the time it takes the rash to heal.

If you know you had contact with one of these plants, immediately wash areas of the skin that may have touched the plant. Sometimes the rash can be completely avoided by washing the affected areas with plenty of water within 10 or 15 minutes of contact.

To relieve itching and help dry blisters, apply wet compresses or soak the area in cool water. Antihistamine pills or calamine lotion may help relieve symptoms.

If you have a moderate to severe rash, you may need to see your health professional. He or she may prescribe corticosteroid pills. These medicines may help improve or clear up the rash more quickly. Prescription corticosteroid creams, ointments, shots, or gels may also be used, but pills or an injection are usually more effective.

A frequent complication of the rash is infection. When this occurs, your health professional will probably prescribe a type of topical (applied to the skin) antibiotic cream if the infection is in a small area. Otherwise, you may need systemic antibiotics given by injection or prescription pills.1 To prevent infection, try not to scratch the rash, and cut your fingernails short to minimize the possibility of opening the skin and spreading bacteria.

Regardless of what type of treatment is used after a rash develops, the length of time it lasts will vary from person to person.

And there are remedies that you can use that are in your own kitchen....Take a look at the link below

HELP, 3 yr. old w/ itchy clusters of bumps.?

Thinking it's an allergic reaction to new antibiotic started 3 days ago. Is that possible, and any home remedies for sensitive skin?

HELP, 3 yr. old w/ itchy clusters of bumps.?
If your three year old is having a reaction to an antibiotic, you should stop giving it to her/him right away and call the doctor. Allergic reactions to antibiotics can be severe and life threatening.
Reply:Could it be excema?

try hydracortizone
Reply:no home remidies. GET HER TO THE DOC. NOW!!!!
Reply:DO NOT RE-DOSE.

Call her physician.

If she has developed an allergy to whatever antibiotic she is on, the next reaction could be worse. "Wose" as in it could kill your daughter.

I cannot emphasize this strongly enough: DO NOT GIVE HER ANY MORE DOSES OF ANTIBIOTIC until you have contacted her pediatrician.

If you always feel very itchy after taking bath...what is dat mean?

is that because of ur skin condition or allergies with something?

If you always feel very itchy after taking bath...what is dat mean?
Most likely your skin is sensitive to the soap or shampoo you are using.
Reply:Use lotion. It means your skin is dry
Reply:could be that you are allergic to the soap

or you did not rinse well
Reply:Bath water might be too hot.
Reply:probably you took a hot bath
Reply:It means you are still filthy. Get back in and wash yourself properly you dirty bastard.
Reply:you have very dry and sensitive skin
Reply:My boyfriend feels itchy after he takes a bath. We moved into a new apartment about 3 months ago, and ever sense then it has been a problem. Alot of people will suggest to use a lotion and all that, but its THE SHOWER thats HURTING your skin. Doesn't matter what lotion you put on afterwards.

Most likely its the water your using. Might need a sofetner.
Reply:Your skin could be dry, could be the water or the soap your using. Go see a dermatologist
Reply:Change your soap/body lotion/shampoo
Reply:You're allergic to water, stinky.
Reply:Maybe your water was too hot or you can try using a water softener in your bath. After you get out use moisturing cream.
Reply:You may just have dry skin, which you can help with lotion, or your bath soap may be too harsh. Try Ivory for awhile.
Reply:Try a different soap or cleanser. Dove for sensitive skin is good.
Reply:it means u didnt bathe good enough
Reply:Switch soaps and see if it continues, if it does, it may be the water itself.. your town/city may not be filtering the water properly, or the chemicals contained therein may be causing your problems..
Reply:Your bath water was too hot and has dried out your skin causing it to itch. Never take a HOT bath....lukewarm is prefered and always use a good moisturizer while you skin is still slightly damp. Happy Monday!
Reply:It indicates that your skin is dry, Use moisturizing lotions after the bath.
Reply:Your bath water is too hot. It is drying out your skin. If you do take a hot bath, don't soak for longer than 20 minutes. After wards, take a cool shower. That will help exfoliate the dead cells that have come to surface from the bath.

Moisturize afterwards.
Reply:You may also have hard water. In that case, no amount of lotion makes it feel batter.
Reply:I don't know what "ur" skin condition is but you (not "u") may be allergic to whatever soap or body wash you are using...dry skin also will tend to itch so try using a moisturizer made for in shower or something afterward (lotion or something)...

Try changing to a different soap or bodywash...perhaps something w/o fragrance...it may be the "smelly" stuff in the soap that's irritating your skin....
Reply:u could be allergic to the soap
Reply:I find its best to take a bath in cool water..Cold water stops skin from itching.. If a bug bites you or for any itching, cold water or an ice cube stops the itch on the spot... :)
Reply:It could be that you are allergic to the soap you are using, you didn't rinse well enough or you had a really hot shower (that makes me itchy, but I'm not sure if that is normal).
Reply:No it is not there could be two reasons:

You are very dirty and it is just the dirt

You have dry skin

You should try to take showers and bath 3 or more times a day, use lotion on your skin as well if it persist see a doctor or get some anti-itch lotion
Reply:It could indeed be allergies to your soap. Or there could be something in your water. Try using slightly cooler water for your bath. Another thing you can try is lotion right after you bathe because your skin could be itching because the natural oils have been stripped away.

Good luck!
Reply:Allergic to soap, maybe,I don't know talk to your doctor,he/she will know!
Reply:Either the water you are using contains a high amount of sulfa which is a high known allergy itself or allergic to the soap.

Best thing to do is try using AVEENO. It's an all natural oatmeal soap. Its what I use. It will treat allergy rashing and hives as well as prevent further outbreaks. Meanwhile have the water tested and do some soap tests. That would mean washing an arm with a different soap. You will find out what the allergy is and be able to find replacements or fixes to the problem and be back enjoying baths using normal soaps again.
Reply:Try this:

"Blend oatmeal, Vanilla extract and baking soda. Add to a tub with warm water and sit in for 30-60 minutes. "

That will make your skin more soft and not itchy. also you can apply baby oil right after you get out of the shower.

and of course make sure you are not allergic to the soap - try to use a different brand.
Reply:WHAT TYPE OF WATER IS THIS? IS IT HARD OR SOFT YOU SHOULD LOOK THAT UP. FIND OUT IF ITS TREATED OR NOT TOO.

I EXPERIENCED THAT AFTER A SHOWER AT SOME MOTEL BUT I FOUND OUT THE WATER WAS UNTREATED AND STRAIGHT FROM GROUND.

Do I have venreal warts? Itchy bump on thigh next to vagina?

My kids recently had scabies and we all got it. My husband at that time had a itching and bumps on his scrotum and a bump near his anus. I didn't notice them until later after we had had sex. 2 weeks later I now have a lump on my thigh close to my crotch area. I am worried it may be venereal warts but I have been with my husband for close to 20 years and have never been unfaitful. I am scared to broach this issue for fear that I a being cheated on. I hope and pray that I dont have any kind of disease and that all it is, is from the scabies he had. Help! Any clues as to what it is. The skin is slightly raised and the spot is about the size of an eraser. I dont have it anywhere else.

Your best bet is to go to the doctors and make sure on what it is before you make any judgments. No one on yahoo is qualified to tell you anything else.

Does anyone know what these itchy spots on the inside of my hands and bottom of my feet could be ?

They itch really bad and when I scratch them its like a perfect circle with a hollow middle, looks like a doughnut and after I scratch it the ring raises. The wierd thing is, its under the skin. They only show up on the inside of my hands and the bottoms of my feet. I have been having this happen off and on for 4 months now. I know its is NOT ring worm. Just wondering if anyone has heard of this before or if anyone has any ideas on how I can make them go away.

Does anyone know what these itchy spots on the inside of my hands and bottom of my feet could be ?
This answer is not from a qualified medical expert. Just experience of having observed the health out of keen interest.

The answer suggested is : There is a kind of heat developed in the body, and this heat is affecting a certain kind of fluid in our body. When this fluid gets excessively 'warmed' up it tries to let the heat out through inside of hands or feet, depending on where the blood flow is more(due to our physical activity). In most cases, it causes cracked heel. Where the inside skin/surface of the feet or hand offers resistance(due to good texture or due to care given, or even due to lack of adequate blood flow to it) the heat in its effort to come out manifests as an itch prompting the person to scratch vigourously. When you scratch, the response is the symptom that you mentioned(the ring raises, doughnut like etc). With such non-professional answer, any remedy suggested should atleast not cause side-effects, if not a cure. So what I suggest is, gradually reduce heat causing food items, and replace them with body-cooling items(not cool drinks or refrigerated water--they increase the heat !).

Drink plenty of water, even if it inconveniences going to toilet a bit more frequently. Try fruits and vegetables(permissible vegetables in preferably raw form), which cool the system. Reduce oily, fatty and junk food. The change in food pattern if gradual should not in any way have adverse or side effects. You had this itch for 4 months. When you say off and on, it means the intermittent small change of climate has supported relief off and on. Best wishes for speedy recovery.
Reply:it could be tinuitis. This is a fungus that typically will grow where there is sweat or moisture. It loves feet, palms of the hands, arm pits and inner thighs.

You can go to any local drug store and purchase Lamisil AT, this will kill the fungus. Apply it 3 times a day, cover tightly and keep covered at all times. Wash your hands and feet with anti bacterial soap when bathing. DO NOT SCRATCH! Scratching will cause it to spread. Make sure that you are keeping yourself clean at all times. Purchase hand sanitizer, this can spred from person to person just by touching an object that you might have touched.

The other option is to go to the doctor and they will give you super strong antibiotics to kill the fungus.

If not gone in 10 days seek medical attention.

My face is dry and itchy what do I do?

About a week ago I bought a new face wash and I started getting dry skin that was ichy and flaky and red. Its bad enough that I dont want to see anyone or do anything because I have all these stupid dry/flaky spots on my face. I stopped using the face wash and I havent washed my face in like 3 days untlil today I washed it and I used a different face wash that my best friend gave me, but my face is still having issues! It burns really bad! So any advice would be much appreciated (proferable some that doesnt cost much money to fix my problem because I dont have any)Oh and if its something like not being hydrated I drink like 2 1/2 or so cups of water a day so idk if that matters or not! thx

My face is dry and itchy what do I do?
Go with the mask on my profile - you're having an allergic reaction to the chemicals in the face washes. Probably sodium laureth sulfate. There's a whole lot of other known allergy triggers in cosmetics these days - but that's the most common one.

Get a bar of natural soap from a natural store with lavender or chamomile and included oats in the bar.

Do the mask on my profile to help heal your skin quickly and reduce the redness, swelling, itchiness, flakes and pain. It could take two or three days to get the chemicals out of your dermal layers - the mask will speed that turnover up a bit. Don't use the vanilla extract included in the recipe, it will irritate your skin more - all you need is the oats and honey to help heal your skin.

Rub on some olive oil or any other light vegetable oil to help prevent additional dehydration.

ADDED:

Yes, this is a chemical burn or a very bad allergic reaction to the chemicals in conventional products.

Neutrogena oil free is loaded with alcohol and will make your skin a lot worse real fast. Don't do it.
Reply:you got a chemical burn go to a dermatolist DO NOT TOUCH IT OR SCARTCH! you're not helping it.
Reply:get it wet and scratch it.
Reply:It won't hurt to just wash your face with plain water; then use a good moisturizer like neutrogena oil free moisturizer. Try that for a few days %26amp; see if you notice any difference. You could be allergic to lots of different soaps %26amp; facial cleansers. Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day.
Reply:Put honey on it.

It will heel it and stop the scratching and it will make your skin look SO much better and softer.
Reply:Try drinking more water and try using cetaphil as a moisturizer. It is inexpensive but works really well.
Reply:Honey works.

Stop using the face wash.

After a while try a moisterizer.

Reply:Buy a bottle vinegar. Then wash it with vinegar 2x a day for 1 week. If still there's no progress break or smash the vinegar bottle, then pick up the broken vinegar glass then scrape it in your face. That surely get rid of the itchiness you felt. Follow this advice religiously.

What can i do about itchy pimples?

I have a few pimples on my forehead and cheeks and they itch a lot, what can i do about this? Could it be because my skin is too dry?

What can i do about itchy pimples?
If they itch, it means they are getting well. Try not to put your hands on or around them. Also, never eat anything with your hands. For example, french fries don't cause pimples, your hands do by putting the fries in your mouth.
Reply:If they itch, try to keep your hands away from your face. Because if you scratch your skin you turn red and break out.

It also happens when your skin is too dry, use skin moisturizer if you have dry skin, and keep your hair away from your face. Don't let your hair become too damp because the oil on your hands and face can make pimples become worse.
Reply:If you can see a Dermatologist, you can ask for Clobetasol. It's really effective! It is a steroidal anti-inflammatory which, when used sparingly on the acne, stops the itch. My daughter uses it (along with Clindamycin, an antibiotic which kills the bacteria).

Also, keep bandaids loosely over the pimples at night so you don't scratch in your sleep. Scratching will spread the acne bacteria.

Home remedy for cat's itchy scabby rash?

It is due to excessive cratching and licking at excessive area- located on belly and top of her back end near tail. Is there something to be added to food- or a pet lotion? Her skin is dryer than usual.

Looking for some kind of home style remedy ....on the cheap. Vet visit at this time is not an option for me.

Home remedy for cat's itchy scabby rash?
You could pour some olive oil, or even oily Caesar salad dressing over her food (my cat's LOVE Caesar salads). It will help with dry skin. A raw egg a day is also good for the cat, if they will eat it. A saline bath in Epsom salt is soothing for the itch.

I am concerned about the underlying reason for the scratching. It could be nerves, or an allergy, or ringworm. Ringworm doesn't always look like a circle. You can use any over the counter anti-fungal creme at the drugstore and it will help, if its ringworm. It's all the same ingredient, myo-something. Get one that has no other ingredients, except the method of delivery, ie cream. If is allergies, you can use children's benadryl, but use a small dose based on the cat's weight, as directed by the benadryl package. For nerves, you can give a cat St. John's Wort, or Valerium. Use tuna or canned food and empty the capsules into the food and stir.

Don't use calamine lotion. Use pure lanolin, or glycerin for a lotion, or a combination of these two. Try the health food store and use natural, edible products. REAL mayonaisse is good in the food and on the sores, but the cat will probably just lick more, and you don't want that. .
Reply:Are you sure it is not a ringworm? If it is a ringworm you can use an OTC antifungal cream.
Reply:no beef or pork in cat food- could be a food allergy- just read the labels on the food bag

also cat vitamins that contain brewers yeast are good for cats skin

and if its a flea related get a vitamin that contains garlic(vitamins run about 6 dollars @ Wal-Mart) it makes fleas not like the taste of the blood- but it takes up to 6 wks to work so flea comb her every night

also they sell hydracortisone cream (10$) @ any pet shop that will help with the itching

Hope this helps Good Luck
Reply:its fleas.
Reply:Something is causing that scratching and she needs to be seen by a vet because she is obviously annoyed by the itching. It could be something like ringworm since you said it was a scrabby rash- she needs to see a vet because this will just spread and cause her more annoyance and pain. If a vet trip is not an option then you should not have a pet.
Reply:Sounds like flea allergy. You need to figure out a way to take your cat to the vet because this is incredibly painful and irritating for cats. Its similar to eczema in humans but it rarely just goes away. It is difficult to get rid of fleas but that is the first step. She may also need steroidal medication to overcome the allergy. You should not put lotion on your cat..she will simply lick it off and this may make her even more sick.
Reply:You could add fish oil to her diet. You can buy the stuff formulated for pets or even use human grade supplements.

But in addition I recommend determining the cause of the problem. A vet should be able to tell you whether the behavior (the scratching and licking) is caused by a food allergy or whether it's obsessive behavior. Once you find that out you can treat accordingly.

But the fish oil is a good thing to do in any case. My girls get a dose every day.

Please Help Me with this itchy problem!!!?

I had a baby about 1 month ago, when i was pregnant i think i had pupp on my stomach (went away about a week after delivery) i have now noticed my upper thighs itch like crazy, after itching them i noticed i get red bumps like a rash maybe? I have gotten streatch marks on my thighs due to my pregnancy too. anyways i've been itching so bad i cant sleep at night and my skin has started to bleed and scab. i've tried lotions, oatmeal bath, hydrcortison cream,everything.... please help..what could this be? no where else itches just my thighs!

im going insane with scratching!!

Please Help Me with this itchy problem!!!?
Sounds like you have a yeast infection. Apply monistat or nystatin topically if you're not breast feeding. Then do a 7-14 day yeast cleanse. You won't be sorry. You'll feel better than you have since you were a kid...
Reply:I don't know what pupp on your stomach means.

But, if you've just had a baby and you're itching like this -

I would go back to my OB/GYN or even my general Doctor and ask them to do liver function tests and make sure my liver was functioning correctly.

Other than that, I'd make sure I was drinking lots of water (not soda or coffee or tea) every day, and getting good sleep (how is that even possible with a 1 month old baby, anyway???)

Good luck.
Reply:Y,ou said its just your thighs and you have stretch marks there, Well going by my own experience then id say its you stretch marks....I have them eveywhere my stomach/ thighs/boobs and every so often they itch for days and it dives me mad...Then goes away again,

Pregnancy brings out all different kinds of things, things you were never allergic to before your pregnancy can start after you have the baby, All my life i used Bold washing powder but since having my kids i cant go near it anymore, but because you said ts only your thighs then its almost definatley your stretch marks

Please help with my very itchy dog!?

My dog has been tearing himself up this summer, scratching constantly. First thought was obviously fleas, but my home has hardwood floors and when I bathe or comb him, I rarely see any fleas (if I see any fleas it is just one flea). I really don't think he has a problem with fleas. Could it be fleas making him itch so much?

I changed his food this summer which after 2 bags, seems to be aggrivating the problem. I'm thinking he has an allergy, possibly to any flea bite, or maybe his food... What can I put on him tonight to soothe his skin? (I just bathed him today with medicated shampoo and he is *still* scratching away!) What can I do for my doggy so that he will stop tearing himself up?

Please help with my very itchy dog!?
If he has flea allergy dermatitis one flea bite could start him scratching up a storm like you have described. It could also be a food allergy.

For instant relief you can give him benadryl. But I couldn't recommend a dose to you as I don't know how much he weighs.

You can also do a food trial. That means get a hypoallergenic food and feed him only that for atleast a month (it takes that long to make sure it is the food that he is itching from). That means that food only, nothing else except water. No treats, table food, etc.

Also, don't bathe him too often, excess bathing can dry out the skin and make him even itchier. Bathe, at the *most*, once a month and that's only if necessary.

If you can post his weight I can tell you how much benadryl you should give.
Reply:Take him to the vet.
Reply:If nothing you do works, try calling up your vet. If you think it's becoming a much more serious problem, then take him to the vet.

I don't know, it could be the weather. Does he have long hair or short hair?

It is best to take him to the vet to check him out.
Reply:common food problems are SOY, BEEF, WHEAT, CORN, PORK

you can bathe him all you want but if his food has any of these the problem will not go away

feed LAMB and RICE - and good stuff NOT crap you buy in grocery store or wal mart
Reply:Please take your dog to the vet to see if he/she can help you figure this out. If you found a flea, there are mostl likely more around someplace. He may be allergic to them.

It might not have anything to do with fleas or other bugs. Your dog could have an allergy or some kind of skin condition. Since the food aggrevated it, it could be a food allergy. In any case, he could wind up with skin infections from so much scratching. Not to mention how uncomfortable he must be!
Reply:Since it is likely an allergy, giving him some children's benadryl will offer some relief. Looking online or calling a vet should help you with dosage. It sounds like that the cause is not fleas, as you rarely see any, so it is probably the food. I would first try switching to a higher quality food, if he isn't on one already. The top three aggravates in dog food are corn, wheat, and soy. After that, dogs can be sensitive to particular meats, in which changing formulas may help. Make sure you read labels though, just because it's a lamb and rice food doesn't mean there's no chicken in it. If none of that narrows it down, you may have to do an elimination diet. Although, going to a super high quality food will probably eliminate the need for any of this. I highly recommend Blue Buffalo.

Reply:Well honey it has some fleas!!!! just fase it!!!
Reply:an oatmeal bath will help stop the itchies but you still have to figure out whats causeing the problem..
Reply:Fish and Potato is one of the formulas my Vet uses on itchy dogs. You can give him a regular Benedryl. It will make him sleepy. But take him to the vet tomorrow.

Fleas can live in the cracks of hardwood floors, so don't rule out fleas!!!
Reply:It could be the fleas causing the problem, for every flea you find on your dog there is 100 in his environment. My dog goes nuts if he just gets one flea bite, so I keep him on Revolution all Spring and Summer to make sure the fleas stay away. He also gets seasonal allergies in the Spring and late summer so I give him Children's Benedryl and it really seems to help him. I make sure all my dogs eat a good food that is grain free and contains no added junk because my other dog is allergic to wheat, soy and preservatives; we only buy the foods that are all natural with the natural preservatives. My favourites I like to use for my dogs are Timberwolf and Innova EVO. Dick Van Patten's Natural Balance also makes a couple of foods for dogs with allergies that you may want to try to make sure it's not a food allergy that your dog has.
Reply:fleas could be the problems, because they can lays eggs and you never know, there could be fleas that are just on him that you cant comb out. take him to the vet and ask them about it. if you think its because of the food, you should try feeding him the brand Nutro. that brand is what i feed my dog. and there are different types of the Nutro brands. go to this website and read about it.

www.nutroproducts.com/

best of luck with you and your dog!
Reply:best food , even has a guarantee!. nutro's lamb and rice. soooo gentile and promotes healthy skin and shiny coat. i tried it b/c my dane had red itchy skin and too much shedding. wow what a difference. you will see a change right away. stay away from chicken based dog food. "by products" means the head, neck, feet, feathers!beak, and skin. everything we wont eat and nothing we do! no wonder so many dogs are sick! trust nutro's lamb and rice. it works.
Reply:You could give him Benadryl(just one pill in a piece of bread, or rolled up ham or cheese), I've done it to my Scottie and he's stopped scratching. Or u could try putting some cortisone on him, that helps a lot too! I've put it on my dog before. None of these hurt the dog, so don't worry!
Reply:You need to go to your vet to have him tested for allergies. The fastest way to get him to stop is to have your vet give him a steriod shot. You can also give him over the counter benedryl.

Good luck!

My question--I have very itchy places on my hand and it is very caloused.?

it began approx. 8years ago dr. thought it could be psoriasis but wasn't sure. It itches so intensly that I have open cracks in the skin

My question--I have very itchy places on my hand and it is very caloused.?
8 years ago and you haven't seen a doctor about it yet?! Could be a skin condition, could be just really dry skin. I'm sure there's some sort of lotion or cream that could be prescribed, see a dermatologist!
Reply:Could be eczema.
Reply:You possibly have a fungal infection on your feet. I have no idea why when a fungal infection on feet is left untreated it makes the hands itchy but my hands were sure itchy. If this is a possibility you need to see a doctor and think about antibiotics, antifungal creams and powders an help for mild infections and can be used in conjuction with antibiotics.
Reply:Sounds like psoriasis. My grandmother had it and she said it was very itchy and it would cause raised caloused patches on the skin. I would go to a dermatologist- they can prescribe medicine for it. If you can't go to a Dr then look for something over the counter- I have noticed some new creams on the market for psoriasis. Good luck.
Reply:excema!!! i have it too...sometimes it goes away and then it comes back again. it goes through cycles. go to the dermatologist and get some cream. Elidel works great, but insurance doesnt cover it. its about 75 dollars per tube. dont use anything with scent in it. it irriatates the skin even more.

How do i make this itchy feeling go away?!?

for years now i have been struggling with skin allergies. i have tried EVERYTHING!

the doctors are calling it excema (which they have admitted means they really dont know what it is, that something is just coming in contact with me that causes the break out)

when tested for allergies, i was allergic to everything on thier chart (as far as hay fever allergies go)

i have hundreds of scars from where i itch till it bleeds and also many broke open scratch wounds.

sometimes i cant sleep at night because i itch so bad

i get allergy shots and am taking meds (have been for like 3 years)

its embarrasing...if i wear shorts or a short sleeve tee people can see all my scars and wounds and they look at me funny...imagine the first impression i make on people...

ive been on powerful medicine that is pretty bad for you and it makes it go away...but then it always come back

does anyone know how i can make it stop itching? i hate it and im tired of it anc cant stand it ANYMORE!

How do i make this itchy feeling go away?!?
First off, I can feel your pain. When my symptoms of itching and red spots broke out the doctors told me I had excema and treated me with all of creams that were very expensive.

I spent nights crying because it wouldn't stop itching and I had open wounds that were bleeding.

I finally found a doctor (Dermatologist) who said I had psoriasis which is different from excema. It's a auto-immune disorder. I don't want to diagnosis you, but it's something you may want to bring up the next time you go to the doctors. Good Luck!!!
Reply:hydrocordizone stops itching and heals .. best if used overnight. also try aveeno anti itch lotion also use before bedtime. or aloe vera
Reply:I often use aloe vera gel, Sarna lotion or witchhazel. If I still can't get rid of the itch an ice pack always works.
Reply:take antihystamines, and if they dont work , take a different brand

A dust mite problem? read about it on the net, you may be prone if you have carpets, animals, and dont change your sheets regularly. Its the urine of the dust mite that makes you itch.

To eliminate your house, live at an aunties for a fortnight and if itch goes away analyse whats different between the two envirionments.

I agree with Starry above about the aloe vera

get a large pot of aloe vera and grow it in the sun.

each morning cut off a leaf at the base of the plant

cut off the pointy bit.

slice off the spiky edges.

then slice the leaf in half along its full length.

rub the wet bit over your sores, and scar tissue.

But remember, this not addressing the cause.

Allergic skin reaction?

I recently started using 2 new facial products, one was an exfoliating facial wash (I’ve used other ones before, but not from this brand) and facial cleansing wipes (never used these before).

I used these new products for 2 days and I developed an allergic reactions (very itchy red dots) so I stopped using both of them and that was 2 days ago, but the dots haven't gone away and they are still so itchy, is there anything I can do to relieve the itchiness (I’ve already tired moisturizer and it doesn't work) for the time being, I’m planning on going to the doctor about this tomorrow.

Allergic skin reaction?
You should see a doctor. You probably have atopic eczema. And your docotr may prescribe you products like Protopic and Elidel for it. You'll get cured fast. But don't wait to see a MD!
Reply:My dermatologist doctor told me that our skin can be irritated if we use new skin/facial products because our skin is not used to that new product.
Reply:Try benadryl for the night and then see your doctor first thing in the morning. Good luck to you.

I dont have lice but my scalp is so itchy and the back of my neck is itchy?

I am so afraid my hair is going to fall out from itching so much I had surgery a year ago on my thyroid and ever since i have had problems with my hair falling out at the hairline and my skin is really dry. Any suggestions

I dont have lice but my scalp is so itchy and the back of my neck is itchy?
It sounds like it is linked with your thyroid, I'd go to docs for blood tests and see what they show up. If all is OK there, and you have tried the usual dandruff shampoos, ask if you can try betacap. It's a steroid lotion for your scalp, but you only need use it sparingly, I've found I only use it when I have a flare up, maybe once a fortnight. I know how much an itcy scalp can get you down, been there. For your skin, try drinking plenty of water and use e45 cream, it's the only thing that seems to help me.
Reply:Could be dandruff. A good dandruff shampoo should sort it.

If you have crusty kind of lumps it could be cradle cap. This is normally found in babies but adults can get it too (I had it once).

Make sure you wash out shampoo and conditioner completely, as this can also be a cause, especially as it's on your neck too.

Failing that, and since you had problems with your thyroid, nip to your GP and ask them, they should help and find your problem!

My skin is basically normal , flawless , fair skin .?

main problem is when i am exposed to sun or severe cold my face is becoming red n itchy . this remains for 1 or 2 days

please suggest any remedies n any diet to avoid this

My skin is basically normal , flawless , fair skin .?
that's an easy problem that can be resolved fast. all you need to do is apply face lotion, if you wear make up put it on let it dry then apply your make up. also it seems to me you have sensitive skin for that my dermatologist recommended me to dove face lotion from experience it has worked really well and it doesn't clog my pores.
Reply:Use a lotion that has at least an SPF 15 in it. It should help some, but if it's still bothersome, try talking to a dermatologist.
Reply:Your skin seems to be at its best in moderate temperatures. So i suggest that if its too hot, find comfortably ways of getting cooler %26amp; vice versa.

Hi I am a fully qualified Male Aesthetician Cert 4 AQF.

I am also Hiv/Aids and the majority of my clients are as well either women or men.

As I and many are on meds our skin has becom hyper sensetive, and all the norm products I can acquire have Parabens in them or Paba or or or the list of chemicals go on, as companies need to fill the product with preservitive for shelf life.

I looked and looked and now use plus reccomend to anybody who asks Miessence, and yes I sell it too and make no qualms about it, as it works!!! www.organicnaturalbeauty.

Have a look at the chemical list of ingriedients in all other products , you will be shocked. These products are also good for Retin A users.

One slight down fall, can not be kept on shelf forever. though why would you want too :))
Reply:If Neutrogena, Aveeno, and Cetaphil made you itchy, you really need to see a dermatologist. Those are the absolute gentlest brands on the larger market.

Dry skin please help really gettin' me down :(?

I have just recoverd from a rash which i reccon was slapped cheek. The doctor didn't know what it was and gave me antibiotics to take to help clear it up. It cleared up on Friday and is now really itchy and dry. Its all flaking off. He gave me some aqueous cream to have and i have literally pasted it on and its still dry and itchy and sore and erugh!!

Any suggestions?

Dry skin please help really gettin' me down :(?
how about some almond oil/moisturising lotion
Reply:i get really bad dried skin and the only thing that sorts it out is the good old OIL OF ULAY. my mrs goes mad at me nicking her make up........specially her lipstick.....joke.
Reply:i am afraid you will just have to wait untill it clears up on its own as if the aqueous cream dnt wrk thn i dnt think ne thin will.
Reply:you could try a very gentle facial scrub to remove some of the dead skin - then try breaking a vitamin E capsule and putting the neat oil on it. The aqueous cream WILL eventually do the job though.
Reply:Don't scratch, try apply virgin coconut oil (VCO). Drink plenty of water, and don't exposed it to sun light.
Reply:the aqueous cream is one of the better creams out there, but you only need to use a little ammout. the skin will need tie to heal.
Reply:Oh dear try e 45
Reply:The Italians swear by Olive oil; Sophia Loren the film star, always added a couple of tablespoons to her bath water.

I use it on my cuticles and it keeps them looking good even though I'm a gardener who refuses to wear gloves.

Its cheap, readily available and worth a try before spending a fortune on manufactured skin products.

If you find it doesn't work, you've lost nothing and can then try the many moisturisers on the market.

Just a side comment - I didn't get stretch marks from pregnancies - just rubbed olive oil into my tum every night.
Reply:i have very dry skin on my face, in certain areas.

i am at present using the aqueous cream to help that, what i suggest is that you do not use any soap on your face and just was water, the aqueous cream will wash your face like the soap. i then reapply the cream for the day.

at night i wash my face and put the cream on thicker than the day.

you also have got to remember that dry skin can take a few weeks to clear up.

however, suggest you go and see the doctor again, just make sure that treatment is working.

Ichy Skin??

I have these itchy spots on my arms and legs. Most of them are just red bumps, and few (2) are actual blister bubbles. They are mostly around my ankle and few (3) are up near my knee, and there are four on my arm. I have done some research online regarding possible scabies or other causes. However I cannot find a sure answer since mine are spread out, and they are only on my right side such as my right ankle and right arm. I have none on my fingers or my palms or my feet. They are extremely itchy, and they only showed up two days ago after I was painting my sidings on my roof. Is it possible that I'm allergic to my roof. Or that something up there could have bitten me?

Ichy Skin??
I actually got the same thing on my elbows and knees after I painted my renovation house. I went to the doctor and he said it was a reaction to the paint and it dried out and irritated the already dry parts of my skin and caused irritation. It's not scabies, those are around waist and wrists and ankles. I got some cortisone ten cream with moisturizers and it was gone in a week. Good Luck!
Reply:Take an antihistamine and see your doctor.

In the meantime, dont pick at them and try not to scratch them. If the itch gets to be too much, use an Oatmeal bath like Aveeno.
Reply:could be psoriasis. go to a dermatologist,

they can help.
Reply:It could also be you came in contact with some fiberglass if you have shingles on your roof ?

Sensivitve skin/skin allergy?

Is it possible for someone to be allergic to their deodorant? I've never had this problem before, but my armpits have been very itchy, %26amp; I've noticed that it is especially bad when I put my deodorant on. I know its not razor-burn. There are no bumps at all. It gets a little red after I've scratched. Is there a certain type of deodorant for this? Is it an allergic reaction to my deodorant?

Sensivitve skin/skin allergy?
yes that is possible. Try Dove deodorant for sensitive skin.
Reply:Definatley. I get that when I switch deoderants or when I usee too much. \

Try finding an all natural deoderant and slow doww on the amout for the first couple of days.

Also, wait a little after you get out of the shower to put the deoderant on because your pores are open from the warm water and this could contribute to your sensitivity.
Reply:Sounds like an allergy to me. Try switching brands, and see what happens.
Reply:If you have sensitive skin, do not use facial washes or soap; instead use a light, hypoallergenic cleansing lotion. Use a moisturizer to strengthen your skin and provide a barrier against irritants. Make sure you use an non perfumed moisturizer, which will not irritate your skin.check out http://tipsfromruby-skincare.blogspot.co...

My feet are HORRIBLY itchy, is this because of swelling?

I am 18 weeks, and the tops of my feet itch so bad! Lotion does not help, since my skin is not dry. Does anyone know if this is caused by swelling? What can I do to relieve the itching?

I would try an anti-itch cream, like cortisone, or the benadryll cream.

Reply:Could be a reaction to something.Anything with hydro-cortizone will help. Talk to your doctor before takeing ANYTHING internally.

Why am I SOO itchy all over my body?

Every winter I get such dry skin. I put lotion on regularly, cocoa butter, sarna, everything. I wake up in the middle of the night to find myself scratching my legs, arms, stomach, downward area, what is going on?! I plan on seeing a doctor, but I would like your opinions as well. I always get this terrible rash on my pinky knuckle in the winter, and on my hand. I can't take it anymore, it is so annoying.

Why am I SOO itchy all over my body?
Sounds link eczema or it could be psoriasis (myself and daughter have this). In either condition you are making things worse by using perfumed lotions etc. The best Over the Counter cream is E45. On top of this use an anti-hystamine i.e. piriton etc. You will notice a big difference. Do not use normal soap, use baby soap or dove. Also bubblebath and shower gels will make things worse.
Reply:Sounds like you may have eczema, which is a skin condition. See a dermatologist for a correct diagnosis.

Reply:You may have Eczema my daughter is the same way , you get ache and your skin is dry but go to doctor to make certain
Reply:if you have been swimming in the ocean lately then you might have sea lice
Reply:Use Eucurin cream instead of over the counter lotions that are only really designed for aroma.

cheers.

I've got some itchy, acne-like pimples all over my back?

I've got acne-like pimpes all over my back, shoulders, and chest. I went to the docter, but he didn't do any tests. He looked at it real quick and said it was probably scabies or acne. He prescribed me some cream for scabies, I put it on a couple days ago but it didn't work... I've still got pimples popping up and I'm still itching.

I have a hard time believing it's acne because I don't get it much on my face and an older family member(age 57) has the same problem. She thinks it's nats from fleas getting in the pores of the skin. The thing is, the treatment the doctor prescribed said it worked on fleas as well as a number of other bugs in its instructions.

So, I'm very confused. I don't know what this is or how to get rid of it. What do I do?

I've got some itchy, acne-like pimples all over my back?
Most commonly the cause is due to heat between skin and material when wearing certain clothing, and allowing products such as hair shampoo and conditioners to clog pores when showering. The problem multiplies if the individual itches or absentmindely feels over any possible problem, infecting the condition further.

Wash the area very gently, and regularly with a mild cleanser or ordinary, non-perfumed soap.

See if you can find an alpha hydroxy lotion.

It may seem like hell, but do try to resist the urge of itching or picking at the area. No touching and regular cleaning will clear the problem up.
Reply:sure it's not rash? if it is acne, clearpores works really well.

Lower back pain and itchy belly?

The past few nights my back has been killing me, it hurts so bad I can't lay on it because if I do it feels like its about to break, and it hurts to lay on my sides too...I just can't get comfortable, I've even taken tylenol for it...Any other things I can do to try to relieve this pain?

Also, what causes your belly to itch while your pregnant? Is it because the skin is stretchin?

By the way I'm almost 28 wks.

Lower back pain and itchy belly?
The position of the baby and the extra weight are probably making your back hurt, Try sleeping in a chair for a few nights till the baby turns agains. The itching. skin stretching.. get come coccoa butter or really good moisturizer and keep rubbing it in.. the itches will probably be where the stretch marks appear and the moisturizer will help with that.

Congratulations on the baby.. hope it gets here healthy and happy.
Reply:tha mean you baby is big and hurt your lower back . yes your belly itch because it stretching.
Reply:Try sleeping on your side with a pillow under your stomach to keep the weight off your back. They do make a "C" shaped pillow for this that works great. And your exactly right about the ithing.
Reply:pillows, pillows, and more pillows...one behind your back, one between your legs (knees and ankles), one under your belly...

the couch may also be more comfortable than the bed

chiropractic may help

the skin stretching is what makes it itchy, use a good moisturizer and try not to scratch at it
Reply:Your backaches are normal. u are carrying weight your body isnt use to, so it causes discomfort and pain. And please get urself some OLIVE OIL!! i used it from day one with my last pregnancy. I got no stretch marks.

My aunt has an itchy rash on her hands, feet and torso. The rash appears to be dry bumpy and scaly what is it?

She has been to the doctor but it seems as if it's just getting worse. Her skin is very dry and the rash is also on her back. The bumps are very small and red in color and are grouped together in various areas of the feet, hands, hands back, and torso. Some one please help!

My aunt has an itchy rash on her hands, feet and torso. The rash appears to be dry bumpy and scaly what is it?
It could be eczema. Go to a dermatologist.
Reply:Could be shingles or psoriasis. Have her see another doctor.

My legs are SOOOOO itchy and i scratch them til' they bleed....?

so now i have this red rash-like thing on both my shins (just on my shins, and not on the back of my legs) and theres some deeper scratches from where i scratched my skin and then theres some red bumps. i try not to stratch them but apparently i scratch them in my sleep. =S i put cream on them but that doesnt really relieve the itch and i cant help but stratch all day!! whats up with my legs and what can i get to relieve the itch and the redness and the scratches from my fingernails? its driving me CRAZYYYY

My legs are SOOOOO itchy and i scratch them til' they bleed....?
Lots of lotion and vaseline is very good
Reply:Give me your address. I'll come over and scratch your legs, among other things, for you.
Reply:You need to quit scratching them until they bleed it is only irritating them more. Maybe you are allergic to something?
Reply:sounds like shingles.... get antibiotics.
Reply:In these kinds of situations we all deny there's anything wrong, but a trip to the dermatologist will usually clear things up, it's probably nothing serious, but really a doctor needs to take a look. The right cream could cure you in 24hrs!
Reply:are your legs super dry? try putting vita E oil over your legs and just wait (for a LONG LONG TIME) for it to sink into your skin. i had a weird rash on my hands from crazy dryness and i put vita E over my hands over night and it eventually got better.
Reply:1) Try a lotion called Cetaphil. It works great. I use to have rashes on my legs I couldn't stop scratching.

2) Wear a rubber band around your wrist. If you have that twitch to scratch that itch, caulk back that rubber band and let it go. The pain of the rubber band will be a reminder for you to not scratch.
Reply:You might have a case of scabies. They are tiny mites that burrow under your skin and leave slightly red patches. They make you itch like mad! There is quite an epidemic right now. See your doctor for a mite killer cream but be aware that it may take multiple tries to get rid of them. Only your doctor can tell right away if that is the cause. good luck
Reply:If you're really that itchy, see your doctor. It could be an allergic reaction to something.
Reply:It is possibly from taking long, hot showers. It is called winter itch. The hot water hits your legs longer than any other part of your body.

Try short, warm showers.
Reply:It sounds like you may have an allergic reaction or possibly have an infection starting because of scratching the skin right off your legs. You should really see a doctor about it. Until then, try lotion with anti-itch medication in it. Neutrogena makes one with lidocaine in it (Neutrogena Soothing Relief Anti-Itch Moisturizer), and that will help deaden the itch. You should also use a cream with cortisone in it, like Cortaid or Eucerin Calming Cream. But call your doctor, because if you have open wounds on your legs, they can get infected, and your doctor can see exactly what condition your legs are in to help them best.

You can also read about some people's experiments with itch relief here:

http://www.tcinternet.net/users/kritzerb...

The woman who made the page had a specific cause to her itch, but that doesn't really seem like it makes much of a difference if you want lots of ideas on possibilities for relief. The banana peel sounds interesting to me.

Good luck!

Evening Primrose Oil for itchy dogs?

My dog has skin allergies and itches a lot. I heard that evening primrose oil will help stop her itching. Has anyone tried this? How much is a safe amount to give a 20lb dog?

Evening Primrose Oil for itchy dogs?
Your problem comes from the inside out. Your dog needs omega 3 fatty acids! Feed any cold water fish oil or just give her a sardine every couple of days. You'll be amazed!
Reply:i dont think i would give it to my dog the dr told me to take it because i get lumps in my breats i take 3000 mg of evening primrose and it has helped my lumps but not my itching i know i am not a dog but i just dont think that this is going to help try putting a tsp of veg. oil or olive oil in your dogs food this should help

good luck hope i helped
Reply:I have not tried Evening Primrose Oil, but have given Benadryl. Here's a site with the dosage by weight.

http://animalsunlimited.net/med.htm
Reply:Even better - and I know this sounds very odd - is fresh aloe vera mixed with grape-seed oil. You cut open a fresh aloe stem and scoop out the juice and pulp, then mix in equal parts grape-seed. Coat the doggie in it, then rinse off. Leave on for 30 minutes or less the first time, just to ensure the dog doesn't have a reaction. Once I realized my dog could handle this mix, I eventually left it on overnight. The grape-seed is available at any health food store; ask an employee which brand is the most pure/best. Let me know if you have any other questions, and good luck!
Reply:That's a new one. I've only used tea tree oil, with excellent results.
Reply:Never heard of that.My german shepherds are both inside dogs and especially in winter spend alot of time scratching due to dry skin.I give them 1000mg.Fish Oil twice a day and it's stopped.I also know of others who have mixed a tablespoon of olive oil in food with good result and salmon oil.But all should be given by weight to be effective.

Every dog I know who is on anything for this is bigger than yours so call your vet and ask for dosage. They'll tell you over the phone.

My dog has an itchy rash on her chest. How do I relieve her of the itching?

The rash is between her two front legs and seems to be spreading. The rash has turned part of her skin black, and there are scab like things at the base of her hairs.

My dog has an itchy rash on her chest. How do I relieve her of the itching?
take to vet
Reply:I wish i had a better answer for you but i suggest going to your local vet and asking them about it. you should probably tell them it is an emergency becasue you said it is spreading. try comforting your dog until then by keeping it busy with toys or petting it and telling it how good it is.
Reply:You can take it to the vet to get some cream so when u put it on it stops itching and it will go away

My dog has scaly, itchy patches all over. What are they?

She is a 9 mo. old beagle. She's see the vet 10 times for this. They always saysomething different and she's taken allergy medicine. Any ideas what this could be? When I pull on the scaly patches of skin they come right off, fur and all.

My dog has scaly, itchy patches all over. What are they?
My golden retriever had this off and on for about his first 9 mo. to a year. The vet speculated and mentioned the possibility of mange, but she said that it was most likely just the natural growth process. I was given a bottle of omega 3 fatty acid to put on his food every day. It seemed to really help and now he's 2 and his coat is beautiful. Also, be careful not to give too many baths--if you do give her a bath, use a sensitive skin shampoo.cream rinse, maybe like an oatmeal shampoo. Hope this helps.
Reply:she could have skin mites. treat her for them and see what happens. good luck.
Reply:It could be hot spots if you put alcohol on them they will heal.
Reply:Have they tested her for ringworm?
Reply:she could have mange or ringworm

you can try some athlete's foot cream and put it on the spots.
Reply:Has the vet done a skin scraping? Have them do a skin scraping where the affected area is. This could help figure out the problem. I have a neighbor who has a dog that has that and she has to feed him special food. No people food what so ever. Ask your vet about that and see what he/she says. GOOD LUCK!!

:)
Reply:Two possibilities that occur to me: 1) mange, or 2) hot spots.

Easiest treatment for mange is to have the vet give your dog an injection of Ivermectin. Hot spots can usually be treated with a medicinal powder (designed for this purpose), and reduction of stress.
Reply:It could be allergies or a skin desease like people get!
Reply:my dog has the same sort of thing we use a special shampoo on her talk to the vet on shampoos
Reply:She could have ringworm or mange. Both you can catch from her.Mange can be tranfer from a pet to human and its called scabbies in humans.10 times to the vet is too much. The second time she went you should of demanded her skin to be tested.
Reply:Sounds like hot spots. First off don't pull at them. That won't help them.

Try switching the food she's on. Check the ingredients of what you're feeding her now. Hot spots sometimes come about as a reaction to an allergy in the food the dog eats. With my lab it was a yeast type allergy.

Now we switched her over to a raw food diet (Ground chicken, veggies and some fruit) but again some people may find this "wrong". It's not but it's everyones own opinion.

The hot spots itch, and the dog will itch that scratch, hence making the bald patches. Talk to your vet about hot spots, or even talk to another vet. Get a second opinion.

Good luck, hope this helps,

~Manda
Reply:It could be mange, scabies, ringworm, allergies, or a vitamin deficiency. One thing that would not hurt is adding some veggie oil to her food once a week (maybe like 2 tsp.). That will add some fat to her diet, and maybe help her skin. If not, I would have some skin scrapes done and a fungal test done.

Good luck. P.S. If you have any scaly areas on your skin, you might want to be tested for ringworm. You two could be shearing it.
Reply:I'm not exactly sure what it is BUT if she is an outside dog, I have started using Nustock on all of my dogs and other animals. The lable says its for lots of stuff from red mange to cuts and swelling. It kinda smells like pine oil but it really works. Ask your vet about it. You can get it at most feed stores. Good luck!

I have a small, itchy red bumps on my wrists and arms...?

and at first I thought it could possibly be from a new bracelet I was wearing, but it's white gold which usually doesn't irritate my skin. Also, I noticed one or two small bruises around the bumps..maybe from scratching but I'm not sure. They get worse the more I itch them. What could this be?

I have a small, itchy red bumps on my wrists and arms...?
i get this from wearing metals but not all the time and not everytime i wear a certain metal...if u take any meds it can react with metal when it hits ur skin
Reply:Sounds like you might have an allergy to something. Go and see your family doctor and they will do an allergy test to isolate the cause of your outbreak.
Reply:Maybe it could be eczema--severe dry, itchy skin. Go to the doctor. If it is eczema, you can put blue star ointment on it.
Reply:If the itching becomes serious, think about scabies.

My dog is severely itchy, is there an inexpensive holistic way to help her?

My dog has been scratching for weeks! The problem is not fleas, and her skin doesn't seem terribly dry, but she is chewing on herself to the point of bleeding! HELP! Any ideas?

My dog is severely itchy, is there an inexpensive holistic way to help her?
Itchy skin in dogs is most often related to allergies.

Reply:skin so soft lotion
Reply:benadryl...talk to your vet for the appropraite amount. how much depends on the weight of your dog.
Reply:otc benadryl cream. or you might want to try hot spot cream for dogs so she stops chewing.
Reply:yes they have dog shampoos, conditioners, and other products that have oatmeal in them. It helps with dry itchy skin. Also he could have fleas. You might want to take him to the groomers or give him a bath with some flea killing shampoo and put a flea colar on him or some other flea medicine that you can find at any pet store.
Reply:Go to your local pet store and see if they have a coolant shampoo that may help with the itching. If all else fails bite the bullet and take your pet to the vet to see if it is a more serious problem.
Reply:I know it seems like a good thing to use natural means of stopping things like this but it could be mites, allergies, fungus... any number of things so I would suggest talking to your vet to make sure it is not something like this and ask if there are any natural ways to treat it. I know you said inexpensive but as I am sure you know, part of taking responsibility of a pet is ensuring its well being at any cost.
Reply:Your dog is experiencing severe allergies, and because the chewing and scratching have persisted for weeks, most likely has secondary skin infection. Take her to the vet and determine what has caused the itch (food, airbornes, or unrelated skin disease) and treat it. Being holistic and cheap is a one way ticket to a false diagnosis and a miserable dog.
Reply:Oddly enough it may be allergies. Dogs can be allergic to grass and food amonug other things. I would take her to the vet to have that ruled out first.
Reply:Get your dog to a Vetinarrian immediately.
Reply:It may not be fleas but it could be some other parasitic infection like mange. Take her to the vet and have a skin scraping done and that will tell you what your next step is. Good luck
Reply:It depends on the breed, but some dogs have sensitive skin. It may not appear too dry but it's definitely bothering her. You may consider changing her diet or just use fish oil ( a few drops on her food). You can find that at Petsmart and it's really cheap. There is also this spray you can use for dry skin (just a few sprays). Another option would be using a dog shampoo for dry/sensitive skin.

That's what I used for my lab who had the same issue. The cause was the extremely dry air/water here in Colorado.

Good Luck!
Reply:Try a Fish and Potato type dog food (I use Blue Buffalo Fish and Sweet Potato), many dogs have allergies to primary foundation ingredients in the regular foods on the market and the fish and potato food is equivalent to the prescription diets a vet would try. Benadryl will help for immediate relief also, but you need to find out the right amount for the size of your dog, so you'll want to talk to a vet or look it up. It's human benadryl.
Reply:From experience, I know that this is often very difficult to control even with good veterinary help. First of all, make sure

that he is being given an excellent method of flea control, such

as Advantage (available at vet office). For a few dogs, even

one or two fleas can cause a severe allergic reaction. He may be allergic to summer weeds and pollens. This was what my itchy dog was diagnosed with. All the meds from the vet only seemed to help mildly and temporarily. Cortisone

shots do help to a degree but they must be done frequently and are expensive - and not every dog lover has the money-

as office visits are about as much as a humans. Also prednisone causes a huge upsurge in urination, which might be problematic if he stays indoors while you are out during the day. You could try giving him benadryl - vet said it was safe to do so- but I didn't find this really effective either. I tried putting flaxseed oil/ fish oil in his food and then seemed to have a more favorable effect that a lot of the meds. Good luck, I have to go through this with mine (to varying degrees) every summer and to all of those who are crying "cheap" at you, I spent a ton of money, with very poor results, and yes this can make you search for alternative methods.
Reply:i have been working with animals for 20 yrs.i have been a groomer for 17 yrs.and i can't tell you how important it is to get all the soap out of the dog after bathing.it causes dandruff, skin rashes, and leads to severe itching.and skin irritations.that lead into big vet bills.to help the itching you can give your dog a benadryl alergy pill.
Reply:Have you tried to change her food? She may be allergic to what is in the food you feed her.

Good luck
Reply:You can try fish oil pills or vitamins (they may only help now marginally) but will help prevent further problems. Also, a drop of olive oil on his food will help make his coat and skinner softer.
Reply:Go to Walmart and get SULFODENE in the pet care section. You can get it in shampoo, spray, and liquid form. You will see quick results and it will do wonders, I swear, for $4 bucks you'll wish you knew abou this weeks ago! It is a sulfor based medication that really works, I use it and it was recommended by my vet. It's the only thing for my dogs' sensitivities. Good LUCK!
Reply:Hi,

I'm not a vet, but I know that food allergies cause a lot of skin problems. She may be allergic to wheat, which a lot of dogs are.

I have a page on my website all about food allergies. It might help.
