I'm 29 weeks and I itch all over! I know it's normal for your belly to itch and the abdominal region, hips, bum and even thighs if the skin is stretching. But EVERYTHING itches, arms, legs, hands, etc. I've had this problem for about a week. I can't fall asleep for a *long* time because I keep itching. It happens mostly in the evening. It's not so bad in the first half of the day. I have scratch marks on my arms and legs now even though I'm TRYING not to scratch too much!
I'm not so much interested in what to do about it... i moisturize my body, etc. and that helps A LITTLE but not alot! What bothers me most is WHY???
Help! I am so itchy!?
I went through the same thing. First you should go to your doctor. There is a condition which is called "PUPPS" you can google it and there are many sites about it.. But it is common among preggo women. And treatable
If you have used any new lotion that could of caused it. Mine was because I used the Palmers Stretch Mark Cream stuff and i was allergic to something in it.
The doc may give you some cream, i got it and the itchyness went away in a week or so. I also had to have oatmeal baths (aleeveno makes some).
Good luck!!!
Reply:Your skin is stretching rapidly causing it to itch -- especially if the weather where you are is dry. Keep moisturizing all over!
Reply:maybe its jsut nerves and an itcy stomach al together
Reply:it could be an alergic reaction or poision ivy
Reply:Do not itch, get some oatmeal lotion like Aveeno, maybe its the horomones making you itchy. I had the same thing.
Reply:i used to have this problem and my friend has it now, JUST STOP IT get yourself trained by that, or go to a doctor
Reply:sounds to me like your having an alergic reaction to something. You really need to go to the doctor about this it coyld be a big problem
Reply:Take a couple deep breaths and read what you just wrote. It's not a punishment, it's just something your body created for you with the birthing process. Think of it as a privilege since there are some unfortunate people who want to go through what you are feeling to have a child of their own.
Reply:it could be allergey or food poisining.
Reply:You might have the chicken pox. Did you call a doctor. This could be serious! Prehaps poison ivy?!
Reply:One answer i may suggest is that you might be experiencing the Chicken Pox, if you havmt in your lifetime. Chickenn Pox are normal. The way you can assure yourself if you have them is if you have big pimples. red color.
Other suuggestion could be just you know, sensitive skin, but get checked anyway by a doctor to make sure and let me know.
Reply:Maybe its the allergens in the air. All of a sudden your skin can just start itching when the allergens in the air attack your skin. That happened to me, I was itching a lot and there was no type of rash or anything. I went to the doctor and he just prescribe me this medicine, when i looked it up. It just said something like, the medicine makes you think that it is not there or something.
Reply:Im having the exact same problem but its because of our streching skin and winter weather is super drying us out!! I use super oiy body wash like dove then I follow with a greasy cocoa butter. I rub oil all over throughout the day!
Reply:If you have someone to help you in and out of the bathtub, take a bath with baking soda in the water. About half a cup full.
Reply:Itching on your belly and hips etc is normal. But itching on your arms, legs and hands is not. It could be a sign of another condition which you need to tell your midwife/doctor about, the more serious conditions can harm your baby
Reply:I would contact my doctor ASAP. it could be cholestasis. which has to do with the function of your liver. If it isnt that it could be the dry cold weather. try moisterizing and a humidifier.

Reply:hi i went to the hospital on Friday for the same reason. The doctor said it could be caused from too much oestrogen in my system. he ordered blood tests to rule out something more serious. But he also said because its not on the soles of my feet or the palms of my hands and the whites of my eyes aren't yellow then its nothing to worry about. He did give me a prescription for phernergon tablets. they are an anti itch tablet. but unfortunately its not working for me. I am going insane with the itching. I will be 40 weeks on Tuesday but have my doctors appointment on Monday. I am going to tell him he has to induce me because its driving me crazy. But because i have gestational diabetes they wont let me go more than a day or 2 over. The midwife told me the only way to stop the itching is to give birth, so hopefully this week sometime. I really feel for you i know what its like. Hang in there go to you doctor and get him to give you something. Good luck with it all.
Reply:Do Take this Seriously.
It is probably nothing, but it can be a symptom of things more serious. My friend had this and it was quite serious in her case. She had Cholestasis (http://www.healthsystem.virginia.edu/uva...
And you're right about looking at it differently and not asking "Why Me." No one asks "Why Me?" when things are perfect.
Reply:im itchy right there with you, ive got PUPPPs, but if you are really itchy all over you need to tell your doctor because it can be a sign of a liver problem that you need to get checked out. i dont sleep either. my doctor gave me a steroid cream and some antihistamines to take and that helps some. i suggest you go out and buy some benadryl for the time being and take 2 before you go to bed to help you try to sleep until you can get to the doctors, they give you a better medicine that is totally safe for the baby. also, dont take hot hot showers or baths because that will dry out the skin and make it worse, you can always take a bath and put baking soda in the water so it makes it kinda pastey, that will also help in soothing it before you go to sleep. im 34 weeks with a boy and this has been going on with me since i was around 15 weeks. its maddening i know! but the only thing that will get rid of it is to have the baby, but im glad hes staying in there until its time!
good luck, i know you need it.
Reply:You need to get into contact with your dr!! Visit itchymoms.com. I had cholestasis or ICP. It is DANGEROUS!! It sucks, I would itch for hours and scratch until I would bleed. I couldn't sleep. Doctors do not know much about it but call them and get blood work done on your bile acids and your lft's. This is extremely important. I could be pupps, do you have a rash? If you do then it is most likely you don't have ICP but still get into contact with your doctor and bring up ICP. A lot of times when someone has ICP they are educating the dr. Visit the site it's very helpful. It's dangerous to your baby if you do have it. I surely hope you don't cuz it's pure hell! good luck!
Edit..I don't think you think of this as a punishment like one person said but from my own experience to itch all hours of the night til you bleed is not fun!!
it is very painful so I totally understand your feelings!
Reply:LOL People are so vile at times. Just try to ignore. In response to your question....I would call my dr. but I have the same issue. I am only 18 weeks and it started about a month ago. I was going out of my mind. My dr. diagnosed me with PUPPS as well but its more of a third trimested issue so after doing some research I think though it may be the beginning stages of PUPPS more then likely its just that our skin in super duper senstive when we are pregnant. With the change in climate this time of year it can really take a nasty toll. There are websites out there for PUPPS relief that women have put together. It will list different products and how well they work. I have personally found that Benadryll spray works for me. I was lathering on the lotion and it did very little. Making that barrier with the spray seemed to help much more. Hope it ends quickly for you because its miserable!!!
Reply:lemme scratch you
Reply:maybe you're getting fat.
Reply:maybe you have chicken pox...
