What can be done about boils on the skin. I have had them (not so many at once) previously and usually they will burst on their own. There was one about 6 months ago where I had to go to the ER and get it cut open (which I am not trying to do again because that anesthetic shot hurt like a *****!!!!) I only went that time because it was so painful and wouldn't drain on its own. That was tested and turned out to be a staph infection which I took antibiotics for.
Now I have one on my outer thigh, one on the left side of my abdomen which has a whole lot of redness and swelling around it. My inner left thigh has been swollen and red for quite a few days and is finally going down and my left breast had some kind of ***** smelly drainage going on.
Anyone have any ideas of what to do about these? OTC or home remedies????
Like I said before if I go to the doctor, they'll cut it open and that **** really hurt last time!!
I also slept from 1 am on Saturday till 10 am on Sunday. (that's 33 hours
Ugly itchy boils all over?
Take it from a person who almost just died from a staph infection. Ask your doctors to take a sample (sometimes they don't have to cut... they can just squeeze) and have them culture it. Ask them to NOT screw around with a low level antibiotic this time. There is a good one on the market called Zyvox that you can take in pill form (most others are by IV). Ask if what they culture would be susceptible to Zyvox. By the way this med is VERY expensive. A ten day supply will run about $1,800. But when you are to the point of sleeping this long, something like tetracycline and Cipro will just mess around with the infection but not kick butt.
Also check into seeing an infectious diseases doctor. Sounds like your doctor/ER are not being very pro-active.
Reply:Given that one of these was positively diagnosed as a staph infection reaction, go to the doctor ASAP! MRSA (Methycillin-resistant stapholococus aureas) is becoming very prevalent, and it can be fatal if not agressively treated.
Reply:I would just put some Cortizone -10 creme on it and when it swells up, heat up a pin and pop it,
Reply:ewww. if i had that i wouldn't be bothering w/ otc. go to the doctor!!
